Angiewhole30ready!
WholeMama623 - can I say I am so glad you mentioned that your mother is giving your crap for eating good food. I have had the same problem with my mother my whole life. She is constantly trying to get me to eat bad food and desserts and serves WAY to much food. Thanksgiving was a nghtmare. I was at one of the tables after dinner doing a puzzle with my nephew literally moaning about how much my stomach hurt from all the food and she is getting the table ready for dessert going "Aren't you going to join us? Aren't you having pie?" I replied, "Mom, I am in a ton of pain, my tummy needs a rest from food" and she says "It is just pie, you have to eat your sister's pie." She proceeded to make a huge deal about it. I was really starting to think my mom was the only one who does this to their kids. It is like she is not happy until we are all totally uncomfortable from eating too much. I understand holiday's are known for being excessive but she is like this with every meal. I am a grown woman now and live a few hours away from them but I definitely avoid visiting more frequently then I have to because of the pressure she puts on me. Does anyone else have challenges like this with family members? I cannot imagine if I had to deal with living with someone who put that kind of pressure on me all the time. Wow, sounds like we are cut from the same cloth. My mom has a lot of health issues, as do I. The only difference between us is that I work hard to try to control mine. When I eat Whole30 style almost all of my problems cease! My mom REFUSES to do a whole30 or even try because she doesn't think "it will help" it's so annoying. She makes fun of it, says how stupid it is, and says how hard it would be, but she will NOT give me any credit when I'm doing one, and basically ignore me. She tried to guilt me SO HARD yesterday that I literally had to delete her email to keep my head from exploding. I get the impression that my willpower makes her uncomfortable with herself and she can't stand it.
WholeMama623
So funny Raven! I just posted in my own log about how the weekends are so hard for me. We are normally running errands and out of the house ALL day so this is HARD for me. There are like 2 places I can go to get something compliant, but generally I try to stay away. I need to buy some stuff that I really like and it keep it on hand at the house. I loved drinking LaCroix the last time! The bubbly sensation really was a nice treat! Angiewhole30ready!
wholemama623, I understand a lot of what you are saying. I wouldn't even attempt to tell her about some thing like this because of the comments she would make. The funny part is my mom thinks she lives a pretty healthy lifestyle but her pantry is FULL of carbs. It is crackers, pasta, rice, cereals as far as the eye can see. She has health issues but does not have the willpower to do anything about it. It is very interesting because my dad is very different and always has been. He always got up early to work out before going to his job and although he has always eaten whatever she cooks he eats regular portions and never snacks. All of us children adopted his heathy work out regime and love of exercise. Thank goodness! With my mom though any kind of "depriving" as she would call it cannot be healthy. No pain no gain I tell her but then all the comments start. So I just don't share anything with her . It is really her problem as far as I am concerned, not mine. raven526
Good Morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Saturday I felt like a rockstar because I spent the entire day in the city with my family and stayed completely compliant!! I stumbled above one of my favorite healthy eats places Dig Inn, then found compliant hot chocolate, and then went out to dinner and didn't much miss my wine. Did I wish I could have a glass? Yes. Was I miserable and pouting and suffering because I couldn't? No. The best part was when I asked for a glass of seltzer, they immediately brought it in the large wine glass that I love. Made my night. The only part that was a bit hard was when I got home, I was craving popcorn but I just hopped in bed and immediately passed out. I did a TON of walking - 2.3 miles. From 86th street to 40th. The supermarket was tricky yesterday tho. I kept passing all the things I couldn't eat. I tried to stick to the outside of the grocery store to make it easier but I wanted to try and find a compliant bbq sauce (which does not exist) so I was wandering the pasta aisle like a sad puppy haha. Oh well. How was everyone else's weekend? Anyone noticing any changes yet?

WholeMama623
Raven, I think we are the only ones left! I usually only check in here once a day! Compliant hot chocolate? Tell me more. LOL. Doing well! No headaches or challenges so far, so I'm happy!
raven526
Raven, I think we are the only ones left! I usually only check in here once a day! Hey Britt (it's in your signature, let me know if you'd prefer me to use your screen name) I usually only check in once as well, unless I get a notification... Oh this chocolate was good. Not something I would normally drink but it worked It was made with dates and coconut milk and pure cocoa... it was from a paleo booth at a Christmas village and the owner said she knew I could only have the hot chocolate because someone else doing whole30 had stopped by the day before and they went through the list of ingriedents together. It was from a place called This Pie Is Nuts. All her pies were paleo. Made my day!

It was from a place called This Pie Is Nuts. All her pies were paleo. Made my day! Hi Raven! I'm glad to see you're doing so well! (I'm on Day 30 and the time has flown by . . . .). I know it was just one time, but I'd avoid the "hot chocolate" if I were you. It's like the "coffee creamer" mentioned in the Whole30 "Can I Have" guide: Tip: Regarding “Paleo” coffee creamer… sigh. We know there’s a recipe out there where eggs, coconut milk, dates, and some voodoo magic are combined with prayers to create a thick, creamy concoction that can take the place of your cream and sugar (or Coffeemate) and once again transform your undrinkable black coffee into sweet, dreamy caffeine. This is not okay–sugary creamer substitutes fall under the SWYPO rule. Instead, we’d encourage you to take a look at why you need this at all. Do you really like coffee, or are you drinking it for the hit of sugary flavor? - See more at: http://whole30.com/2013/06/the-official-can-i-have-guide-to-the-whole30/#sthash.h5SqaytK.dpuf And it's also one of those things, to me, that seems like SWYPO (Sex with your pants on), which in Whole30-speak is a concoction made up of compliant ingredients but designed to mimic something not on the plan. http://whole30.com/2014/10/sex-pants/ (Personally, I avoid dates as they are just too much of a sugar hit for me.) raven526
Yep. What ArtFossil said! Sorry!! Nice for after your Whole30 though............. Thanks ArtFossil & JMCBN! After I started drinking it, I realized it probably was SWYPO... But I promise, it was a one-time thing during this Whole30. I was walking around a Holiday Market, with all these Christmas things around me... it was a nice in the moment thing but also made me realize I can live without it until January. Plus I didn't finish it. it was so thick that I got full half way through.
raven526
Having a bahumbug day..... I was woken up early by my cats couldn't fall back to sleep. Now I'm grouchy and want carbs. Not even craving the,... just want them because they used to make me feel better... I'd probably feel guilty now if I ate them... Need to figure out ways to cheer myself up... Angiewhole30ready!
Hi Raven and Britt! Hope you day got better Sorry I have been quiet. The email notifications when someone posts don't come to my email anymore for some reason so I had no idea when people were writing. Sounds like the Whole 30 is going pretty good for you and you had a nice time in the city. Things are going well here. I got a small head cold or something yesterday which has made all of this a lot easier becuase I have had absolulety no appetite the past 2 days. So only tea for me! I have dinner with friends tonight and am going to go even though I am sick. The refraining from wine will be super easy now that my throat feels like sandpaper and I don't want to swallow anything. I have a busy next 2 days for work so I may not check back until the weekend. Stay strong - everyone seems to be doing great!

My cats must know I wake up earlir now bc they were at it again this morning but instead of trying to sleep through it, I kicked them out and locked the door... Happy another 40 minutes of sleeping for me! Breakfast was fantastic as well. Trying a new exercise class tonight so we'll see how that goes... Hope everyone has a great day!
