Hubbard24
Starting today after a feeble attempt the last 3 days. My cholesterol check up was way too high and my Dr gave me 6 months to lose weight, exercise, and get my cholesterol down. I know I can do this following this plan. I have no other health issues, so following this plan for the long term is my plan. I'm not going to step on the scale for those 6 months. I want to surprise myself as much as my dr. I know I will lose weigh, because this is so different from the constant binging I've been doing forever. I'm ready to commit. I know I can get through Christmas with my very supportive family. Can't wait for lower cholesterol, smaller clothes and a feel good feeling.
Dedicated1980
Hello! I started practicing the diet on the 24th but my good work was disrupted by thanksgiving which coincided with my mom's birthday. I started again the day after on the 27th. I've been going strong since then and have even lost 1.5lbs since last week. I know this isn't technically a weight loss diet but I plan on losing weight and I desperately need to. I even track my food on MyFitnessPal on most days. I guess you could say i'm doing my own spin on the Whole30 that involves calorie restriction along with the elimination part. Good luck! Til December 26th or bust!

Til December 26th or bust! Not weighing yourself is in fact one of the rules of Whole30. Please don't weigh yourself again until you have completed your Whole30. Instead of doing your own spin on this, why don't you embrace Whole30 and do it right? If you're going to bother to do it at all, why not do it in the way that will let you get the very most out of it? Calorie restriction, and in fact tracking your macros in something like MFP, is totally counter to what Whole30 wants you to do. Consider this a true experiment -- see if it really can change your whole relationship with food, with the scale, with your body. The only way to do that is to follow the rules of the program, and embrace the recommendations as well. It's only 30 days, and if it doesn't work, well, you'll have eaten really good food, and you'll know for sure it doesn't work. But if it does work, you'll have eaten really good food, you'll be happier in your own skin, you won't let a number that shows up on a hunk of plastic and metal influence how your day goes, and maybe, just maybe, you'll figure out that you like not having to enter every bite you eat in a tracker or try to figure out why you're still hungry after eating all your calories one day, but are struggling to get all your calories in another day -- and that you feel better too. I'd encourage you to read a few articles and consider really committing 100% to not just eating only Whole30 foods, but to doing it in a Whole30 way: You count more than your calories, Ways to measure health without a scale, 5 reasons to break up with your scale. Hubbard24
Day 2. I had a perfect Whole30 day yesterday and a great start today. Something I discovered.."I love shredded coconut!" I had a nice palm full for my fat at lunch yesterday. Put it in a little bowl and ate it with a spoon. It almost felt wrong..it was so good!! And on another positive note, my husband is going to join me on the Whole30 after Christmas! He's hoping to find some relief for his arthritis. I gave him some stuff to read, and he was impressed. Will give him a little more time to get his head wrapped around it as he watches me succeed. Feeling positive.
Hubbard24
Day 3. I had a great day yesterday. Stuck to my plan and was satisfied all day. No snacking required. My biggest adjustment is going to be adding fat. You know...fat is bad..lol. I am trying though and I will get it right. I'm an all or nothing kind of gal, so I will get this. I've been having good walks on my treadmill everyday. Going to town to stock up the meat and veggie supply today. So far no serious withdrawal symptoms. Feel like I may have a head cold coming on, but I was snuggling a bit with my granddaughter yesterday who has a bit of a cold, so that's likely where this is coming from. Dedicated 1980, I'm on Day 24 and I want to encourage you to stop weighing and stop counting and stop restricting. Please give the Whole30 meal template a 30 day trial and focus on eating meals that nourish you and satisfy you and that follow the protein, vegetables and fat template. Restricting will REDUCE the benefits you see, not increase them. "All we are saying, is give peace--er, Whole30--a chance." My NSVs (non scale victories) so far include energy, clarity, calm and I have rediscovered satiety! Who knew (I had forgotten) that one can be satisfied with a meal, without cravings or hunger between meals! And, my body is re-forming itself! I feel more buoyant and stronger and I'm moving better . . . . and yes, people are noticing that I'm . . . . smaller.
Hubbard24
Day 4. All is still going well. Still no withdrawal symptoms. Just this tiny head old and a bit of an earache. But..I'm getting sick of eggs for breakfast. I'm going to have to do some research and find an alternative. I know there's lots of options so I'll get myself prepared. I can't believe I haven't stepped on the scale yet. I feel a wee bit of change going on in my body. And my treadmill walking is going great. This is so important to me. I want to get my cholesterol down in the next 6 months and also lose a nice amount of weight. Can't wait for my jeans to start fitting looser and have to get a smaller size. I think not stepping on the scale will be my biggest motivator. I've stopped taking sleep aids, but sleep hasn't changed too much yet. Not too good. But I have to cut down on my "screen time" in the evenings as well if I hope to see a change. All in all, I've only been doing this for 4 days. So I have lots of time to reach my goals. And I will. Hubbard24
Spoke to soon. I believe withdrawal is kicking in. I just feel blah. Laid down for a bit, with a churning tummy. I had a good 40 min walk on the treadmill this morning. Glad I got it in before I started feeling like this. I can't even think of what I want for supper. It will be easy whatever it is. Maybe a pork chop cooked in the Actifry. And some steamed beans. And some flaked coconut. The thought of eating is kind of gaggy, but I'll do it. Hope this doesn't last long. Hubbard24
Day 5. Feeling much better today. I still didn't sleep all night but did sleep a bit longer than I usually do before I woke up. No hot flashes last night. I'm going off ny hormone replacement therapy as my dr told me that it can raise cholesterol. Will see how this program works for that. All in all feeling good. Passed on the eggs for breakfast. Had ground pork patties and raw veggies and hot lemon water. I'm stuffed. A wee bit constipated I'm thinking but hopefully that will work itself out. Hubbard24
Day 6. I'm feeling so full and not hungry. Making myself eat 2 hard boiled eggs, some raw carrots and an orange for breakfast and a cup of coffe with a tsp of coconut oil because I'm feeling constipated. Tiny loose stringy bms. Going to Swiss chalet for lunch. Will have rotisserie white meat, and a double side of steamed veggies. Not even thinking of those things I used to pig out on, so that's good! Hubbard24
Day 7. I did it! Week one is in the books, and I feel great. I followed the plan, walked on the treadmill 5 times, and didn't have too many side affects. Finally learning to get my fat in. I add coconut oil to my coffee and tea. It's delicious! And with 3 or 4 prunes before bed I'm finally "going". Along with feeling good between meals with no hunger. I think I got this!! And so far, no more hot flashes after I stopped my hormone therapy medication. Knock on wood. Onward and downward you rotten cholesterol!!
