So I just completely screwed my reintroduction

Finished my W30 on the 15th Dec and in the last week of the 30 days I did not feel as good as I knew I could. I was into major food boredom and my breakfasts were getting smaller to the point that I was needing a small snack after 4h, when I'd normally last 5h before lunch.

I thought a lot about extending my W30 and now I regret not to. But with the coming holiday season I thought it was time to reintroduce - since I was already getting a bit bored - and then if needed I'd do another W30 in 2016. BIG MISTAKE!

Since I was officially off the 30 days, I did introduce rice on day 1 and I felt really bloated and decided to go on a slow roll. The slow roll just turned into a quick roll at a pre-xmas weekend at my in laws. I had cheese, crackers, wine, xmas seets, you name it. Surprisingly I dod not have effects other than my energy going down (a lot) and feeling terribly dumb for just throwing my effort out the window

My question is... where do I go from now? I still have xmas ahead with family reunions on the 24/25 and a friends party on the 31st. But I can go back to eating W30 compliant on the 4th January. Would eating W30 compliant for 2 weeks get me back on track, and then do a proper reintroduction? Should I do another W30? Should I just restrain myself to a W30, W60, or W90 or at least to a point that I feel that I do have control over food?

Never thought I would have got back to my previous eating habits after a whole30, but if I don't do anything to change my course I know I will. And I'm so sad about it....

Ok, first off stop beating yourself up - you are by no means the first person to give in to the siren call of the cheese, wine & crackers and you will by no means be the last.

Now, take a deep breath....

My advice would be to do some damage limitation and go back to template on the days you won't be socialising, & then relax & enjoy the days that you will. This way you won't feel cheated out of the celebrations, but you also won't lead yourself into a downward spiral of gluten, sugar, soy & who knows what else.

Come Jan 1st eat compliant every day, at every meal until you feel like you did at the end of your 30 days. If you do the damage limitation this should probably take around 2wks, if you go all out & go head first into the Ben & Jerrys this might take a little longer... Then, when you're back in that good place start the reintroduction process & do a proper reintro for ANYTHING you ever see yourself eating again.

Forewarned is forearmed & all that  ;)

Enjoy the holidays!

Aw geez, sviobida, you didn't go back to your former eating habits forever, just for one holiday weekend which just shows you are human. And, the last time I checked, perfection is not possible in this world system. :-)

You collected valuable information about what happens when you off-road. Now, you can use that.

After you do your two week or so reset, you can go back to a methodical reintroduction which is going to give you a ton of information about what you will choose to eat and when and why.

I've read over and over that the Whole30 is not intended to be a Whole365, and that means the reintroduction is a vital part of figuring out how we will eat after our Whole30.

I expect to go off the rails sometimes. So, my New Years present to myself is that I'm going to memorize the Whole 30 off-roading guide:

Haha! Yes, this!  And what is it with fish shaped crackers, and why do they only exist at Christmas...??!  :D

Those are Goldfish Crackers and they exist every single day and they are addictive little buggers! I could justify them if they were made with even a hint of actual goldfish, but alas, they are completely lab-made. ;)

Hahah! Really the goldfish crackers made me laugh out loud!

Than you everyone for the support, you are so right! I will stick to Whole30 compliant food on the days that I don't have social events and then off-road a little during Xmas and New Year. Thank you for pointing that out to me, because I was entering into "what the hell" mode and about to dive in a box of icecream.

So I just printed a calendar with the W30 days and the not-so-W30 days and I'll stick with that until I can do a proper reintro.

Thank you and Merry Xmas everyone! Be careful with the wine and crackers ;)

Hello - I finished my first Whole30 on December 2nd and my last day of reintroduction ended right before a weekend get away!  I LOVED Whole30 and the way I felt as I have an autoimmune disease and was doing it to see which foods make me feel worse.  I blew it that weekend and felt like crap too.  That following week, went back to eating clean and felt better.  We are human and I am not giving up ice cream...I have it like once every 3 or 4 months and it is my most favorite dessert!  I really think the key to this Whole30/Paleo way is baby steps.

BTW - my daughter is addicted to goldfish!

I can't have goldfish crackers in my house (I call them CRACK-ers :) ) to the point that they're a "grandma treat" that my mom brings the kids when she comes to visit!
