runsoncoffee
On day five of my first Whole30 and so far it's been going unexpectedly well, other than a noticeable amount of phlegm and mucus in the back of my throat. My nose is clear and I don't feel even remotely sick - almost from day one I felt better, my head is clearer, and my energy levels are up. But I've noticed especially at night I wake up clearing my throat occasionally. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping it's just my sinuses clearing out after quitting grains and dairy, but I was curious if anyone else had this problem and how long it lasted. jmcbn
Hi runsoncoffee - welcome to Whole30My guess is that your guess is right - often times on Whole30 symptoms will get worse before they get better & the symptoms you describe are generally ones linked to dairy as it encourages the production of mucous.I'd give it a day or two and if it hasn't cleared maybe speak to a pharmacist about some OTC medication, just in case you're actually coming down with something.Hope it eases for you soon. praxisproject
I get the exact same thing from grains and dairy (not just gluten, other grains too). Can take up to a week for me, but it doesn't get "worse" after the 2nd-3rd day. I like to have some ginger & lemongrass tea
