ange1983
I've had the flu now since day 2, and I'm working very hard to stick to the whole30 and push through. But I came downstairs this morning and my hubby (who is also doing whole30) had made breakfast and smell and thought of eating meat made me gag. Any suggestions on what to do? The thought of broth also makes me feel sick too. I couldn't find anything on what to do when you are sick with no appetite.
Carlaccini
I am a long term migraine sufferer - so sick and no appetite are feelings that are all too familiar.... Start with ginger or mint teas - both are calming on your digestive tract. So is Gingerade Kombucha - better than ginger ale for calming a upset stomach IMO.... Broth is the next step.... After broth it's usually a couple of scrambled eggs and sweet potato. Keep it simple. So no heavy proteins, and eat starchy, mashed veggies. A blended veggie soup would work too. I usually start with tea and then work my through waiting a bit after each phase to see what settles.
praxisproject
I love the Silky Gingered Soup. I actually find it easier than plain broth as it has quite a different smell. http://meljoulwan.com/2012/11/05/silky-gingered-zucchini-soup/ Ginger & lemongrass tea and peppermint tea is really great too. Doc
What about meds? I have bronchitis and desperately need cough syrup for this relentless hacking cough. I'm guessing even the prescription with codeine contains non-compliant ingredients, like sugar. I'm on Day 5 and don't want to start all over again. Thanks. Doctor's orders trump Whole30 rules, if it's prescription, you can take it.
Doc
My cough/bronchitis turned into a wicked sinus infection. Still coughing, but have zero appetite. I managed to choke down some eggs this morning, but felt like I would vomit afterward. All I wanna do is pull the covers over my head and stay in bed all day. Which sucks, because Sunday is my usual food prep day for the week.
praxisproject
Go for soup or things you don't need to chew much (hurts more with sore sinuses). Go for quick and easy until you're feeling better. It will pass. You may need some extra starchy veg if you're feeling extra tired.
