Michelle89
I'm very excited and nervous to start this program. I have arthritis in my back which causes iritis in my eye, which is painful and expensive. I'm eager to see how this program helps with my arthritis and to see how it changes my life in other ways! I'm also excited to speak with others about their experiences, struggles, and successes throughout the program! Good luck to everyone!

You may not have the same results, but after going grain and dairy free during my first Whole30 I have not only gotten rid of my arthritis, but my iritis as well I hope you enjoy the same results as I know how painful it is. I have not had a single bout of iritis since going gluten free.
WholeChristina
Hmmm ... this is very interesting. My husband has arthritis and chronic iritis. He noticed a connection between peanuts and flare-ups and has stopped eating peanut products. But he hasn't tried gluten-free or dairy-free. We are going to have this discussion today. Thanks for sharing.
sarahascott
My husband, and I are starting today as well! Looking forward to having some buddies on here to go through it with!!
WhitneyL
Good morning all. I started the Whole 30 today. Kind of strange to get up and eat breakfast but it was tasty. I am following the 7 day meal plan that was in the book this week. Good luck to you all.
grenoblegirl
I'm starting today too. Glad to see other people starting on a Thursday with me!
Michelle89
@WhitneyL The 7 day meal plan sounds handy. I ordered the book but it won't arrive for a few more days. I'm anxious to get it!

Thanks for sharing. Peanuts are inflammatory, that's why they're out (and peanut oil) for the Whole30. Whole30 really allows you to identify what makes you feel less well. I would not have thought I had issues with either grains or dairy before my first one, but Reintroductions made it crystal clear that wheat and gluten make me incredibly ill. Turns out I'm probably a celiac, but I get too sick doing the official test to confirm it (which apparently is quite common, they're searching for a better way to test). I don't get the typical gut reactions of many celiacs, I get gluten induced ataxia (irregular heartbeat - can get dangerous), ridiculous inflammation (not kidding, 10 kilos overnight from a big dose of gluten - very painful), arthritis, iritis, serious brain fog, the only gut thing is a weird gurgly sound from my insides occasionally. All gone once I got rid of the gluten. I have found through reintroductions (I've done quite a few Whole30s) some other grains give me mild arthritis and inflammation, white rice being the least reactive. @WhitneyL The 7 day meal plan sounds handy. I ordered the book but it won't arrive for a few more days. I'm anxious to get it! grenoblegirl
Hi other 1/7 starters! How's it going? I'm wondering if anyone else is "symptom"-free. I've been following the meal plan in the book and I've been reading labels really carefully (how is sugar in literally everything!?) so I know I've stayed on plan. I've also been getting the Whole30 Daily emails, and this morning's talked about how Day 3 can be the hardest, but I'm feeling great. I had a migraine last night, but I think it was related to the weather front moving in (that's when I usually get them) and not my diet. Otherwise I have lots of energy, am feeling positive, and am loving the new foods. Is this normal or do you think I'm just going to get kicked in a few days and be wildly regretting ever posting this? Also, any favorite recipes so far? I really loved the homemade tomato sauce on the spaghetti squash with ground meat. I LOVE pasta, but spaghetti squash is quite tasty!
sarahascott
I thought I was 'symptom free' yesterday, and then about 3pm I just flipped the switch, and could not tolerate anyone! I was trying not to be cranky, I knew it was my 'sugar dragon' but I couldn't help it! Hahaha My husband has been far worse off (not surprising, as he was a sugarholic) he has had body aches, and day two he was super lethargic. I kept thinking 'I don't see what the big deal is!' Until last night! Luckily he was feeling better last night, so he cooked dinner while I tried not to kill our children
praxisproject
If you love pasta, you'll want to try zoodles (noodles made from zucchini). You can eat them raw or cooked and they're great with meaty sauces, soups and really anything you'd put noodles with.
HarleyMonet
Hi everyone! I'm starting my 2nd whole30. My first one was great, lost 13 pounds and found that the foods I gave up, my body doesn't like too much anymore. I took the holiday season off, because it was almost impossible to stick as strictly as I wanted too. I spent a lot of yucky feeling nights because of it. But I'm back at it again! I started a couple of times since New Years, but made slip ups, which means you start counting over again....so here I am at Day 1 and successful!
