Faith91
Hello Everybody, I will be starting my first whole 30 tomorrow January 9th. I've been mentally prepping myself for a few weeks. I didn't want to start over the holidays and cave the first few days. I try to live a generally healthy lifestyle but never this extreme. I am very excited and welcome any support! Many of my friends don't see the point/don't want to give up starches and grains. I am ready to change my life though!

Swanee
I'm starting tomorrow too and most nervous about no cream in my coffee! That should be interesting and I'm hoping that the coconut milk will be a decent substitute.
Faith91
Yeah I bet! Black coffee is not the greatest. I'm glad I don't rly drink coffee because that would be a tough one, I have a friend who is lactose intolerant and she rly likes cococut ice cream (not exactly the same but the milk must be at least decent). Good luck!

Jennifer G
Swanee - I'm starting tomorrow too and most nervous about no cream in my coffee! That should be interesting and I'm hoping that the coconut milk will be a decent substitute. I started my W30 on Monday.... I suffered through 3 days without my coffee because I tend to "have a little coffee with my cream" and have NEVER liked black coffee. However, in my reading over those few days I discovered the concept of the coconut cream! Stephanie, from Stupideasypaleo blogged a recipe for coconut milk latte! It has been a dream come true for me. It's very good and just sweet enough that I can have my coffee and not feel I'm missing anything. Good luck!!! nmarinchick912
Hi! I started yesterday, January 8th. Does that count First day went OK. Lots of cooking which is difficult for me. Day two - not as bad as I thought...which has me worried I'm doing something wrong!
Faith91
That counts, Lol. I did paleo yesterday anyways (well I had peanut butter in the morning). I was good the rest of the day. Day 1 so far so good! It is only 10 am though. haha
Swanee
Had my coffee with coconut milk (which I heated and frothed in my Nespresso) and it was OK...not great but definitely doable. For the second cup I used vanilla nut coffee and it was pretty good.

jftv22
Today is day one for me. I can totally identify with the coffee concerns. In fact I was planning to start tomorrow and did a test run of black coffee this morning, just to see if I could handle it. It went so well I thought I might as well kick it off today. I got some really high quality Colombian coffee, medium roast and made it with filtered water. I also got some teas, as I find tea easy to drink without sweetner. Finally, I have a batch of bone broth cooking. I figured if I couldn't hack the black coffee I could at least gave a mug of warm broth.
Faith91
How's everyone doing so far? I had to eat a banana at the end of day one because I was feeling light headed.
AndieH
Hi all! This is my 2nd Whole 30 (first one was almost 6 years ago). This time there are so many more resources, easy food options (my kids and I love EPIC bars), and support- many people I know have gone through a Whole 30. I completed my first Whole 30 while recovering from Parvovirus B 19. This time, it's a reset from stress eating, relying on chocolate and a glass of wine or that plate full of French fries and a nice craft IPA every night when I got home from work every night. I came to realize that I couldn't go through a day without a daily dose of alcohol. This time around there are so many more recipes to work with and I have already learned to live fairly paleo. I'm looking forward to give myself a break from dairy (bad bad for me) and alcohol. Yesterday was shopping day. Today is mass cooking day. My teenage girls are onboard with me- but my husband is not. It's ok though. I do all the cooking. So here I go- on to day 2!
Faith91
Welcome! Good luck with round two! I know the feeling, wine is my go to. Now i'm just downing lots of green tea!!
Swanee
Everything is going good so far but have a very mild headache today. I am generally a pretty clean eater but went on a 2 week European river cruise and then hit all the holidays so lately not so good! Played Pickleball (google it, fastest growing sport in US) this morning for over 3 hours and energy was good. Not gonna lie, missing that wine at night to wind down. But, that is one of the things I wanted to cut down on so it's all good. AndieH, I didn't know the EPIC bars were OK to eat on the W30.? I have not read the whole book yet (It's All About the Food) so maybe EPIC bars are mentioned in there. I will say I haven't been all that hungry. Faith91
I had a ton of energy this morning and now I have a headache too! :/ I wasn't even hungry for lunch. Probably not great but I skipped lunch.
AndieH
Hi gang! Checking in. I got the sugar cravings at the prerequisite hour of 2 pm. I was able to avoid it. Kept drinking mineral water and had some almonds. This time around I am trying not to reach for fruit or my go to Lara Bar when the sugar monster strikes. Hang in there Faith91. It will get better. Swanee - I am in the same boat with the wine. Love my evening wine! But do check out EPIC. My crossfit coach got me hooked on them during a trail run. They are a January Whole 30 ️️partner and there are some give-always and specials this month on the whole 30 Site. My girls are competitive swimmers and snack on them for some quick protein in between races. I'm off to bed as I am tuckered out. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to hit me hard. Faith91
Any one else wake up with a massive headache today? Maybe i'm not drinking enough water?
Swanee
I'm feeling really good and had lots of energy when I got up this morning. I think this diet is progressing at the right speed. However, I have never spent so much time planning, shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning up just to eat everyday! It's crazy! I would have to find a more efficient way to do this plan if I stay on it after the 30 days.
