laura_juggles
I'm going into NYC on Saturday to meet a friend for dinner and then see another friend in a musical before it closes. It's only my second trip to the city after being laid off (aka fired for no good reason because the new president of the company hated me) and I'm trying to make this as low-stress as possible. I was there 8 years and loved the job, so it took me a really long time to be okay with not commuting there every day. In some ways I'm still angry that I let that guy ruin the city for me. Anyway, long story longer, the friend I'm meeting for dinner is super supportive of my Whole30 and is letting me pick where we go for dinner. I'm thinking Hu Kitchen, and getting the bowl of mashed root veg and raw veggies with either the moroccan chicken or the Hu Joe and ask them to leave off the "bread". Here's a link to the menu, what do you guys think of my choices? http://hukitchen.com/HuMenu.pdf I'm a little concerned that there may not be enough fat in the meal (I'll have to decide when I see it), so I may throw a serving of hazelnuts in my purse just in case. Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 13, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 13, 2016 I couldn't use the link but chances are the root mash has butter, cream or both in it, you'd have to ask. You'd have to ask about cooking oils and sugar in the seasonings as well as any marinades that are used.
laura_juggles
Ugh, I can't figure out how to edit the post. With only a couple exceptions, which are noted on the menu, everything is dairy and grain free. They use EVOO and coconut oil for cooking. The mash is sweet potato, parsnip, squash, and carrot, nothing else listed, and they have all their ingredients listed, including the (non-complant) brine on their rotisserie chicken. Maybe I can just link to the restaurant and you can get to the menu page? http://hukitchen.com

I don't have time to review the menu but you just want to make sure that you ask about non compliant ingredients. If they are listing everything in their food, down to the components of the seasonings, you should be able to make an informed decision.
praxisproject
A place like this may even know what the Whole30 is, couldn't hurt to ask There's probably quite a lot of options if you ask them some questions.
