lslingo
I've searched the interwebs and not found a conclusive answer. I'm on Day 4 of the Whole30 and would really like to enjoy a flavored drink. I don't like tea and hate coffee, so I've been drinking plain water. Then I remembered Metromint flavored water. It lists the only ingredients as water and whatever the flavor is. For instance, water and essence of mint, water and essence of orange, water and essence of mint and essence of chocolate.I see no listings for sugars or any of the other banned substances on the list, but I don't want to assume. I'd appreciate the help. ~L
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 14, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 14, 2016 As far as I can tell, these are just the essential oils of mint, orange etc. The chocolate one would not be appropriate for Whole30 but the others should be fine. lslingo
ladyshanny, thanks for your reply. That is correct, just the essential oils. It seemed like it would be fine but I didn't know. I'm ok not drinking the chocolate for now. ~L
Cbg84
The mint one is delicious and so refreshing! The chocolate one is odd anyway. When I found this product I was spending way too much on it at first lol. Then I found an infuser water bottle on amazon for like $13 and put my own fresh mint, or berries, or ginger or whatever I'm in the mood for in it to enjoy. Much better than spending all that money on plastic water bottles IMO
lslingo
There are many opinions on the bottles and the relative value of the product. For me, the cost is worth the time saved. My wife, I and our 9 y.o. daughter are doing TW30 this month. We work in two different cities in very time-demanding careers. We just don't have the time to prepare everything we consume as is the ideal way to participate in this program. When we find products we can purchase to save us prep time, it's worth the money. As for cost, we're already paying 2-3X more purchasing the foods that are free of all the additives and such. I'm appreciative of the dialogue on this topic though. I'm not a diet person but we thought this seemed an interesting experiment to try. ~L
Cbg84
That definitely sounds like a challenge, but it sounds like you are up for it. By all means buy the bottled water and enjoy! Good luck
praxisproject
Some other options are "fruit" teas (not black or green teas) either hot or cold, Kombucha and even boiled water with lemon added after.
QuilterInVA
You can also add lemon, lime, cucumber, strawberries, etc. to regular water and it has a lovely flavor.
