Benadryl

Hello! I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. I did search the forums but didn't see anything specifically for Benadryl, so if there already is info on this, please point me in the right direction.

I get sick maybe once or twice per year. I used to get sick every month. Not kidding - every month. A couple of years ago I met a doctor who was more into the natural way of healing things, and she recommended I try a Netty pot to get rid of my post nasal drip. This drip, when left, gets infected and was ultimately leading to me getting sick. I have a pretty great system now for when I have a crazy post nasal drip starting: I do the Netty pot twice a day and then take a Benadryl before bed. The Netty pot flushes the sitting mucus (that tends to get infected), and then the Benadryl dries everything up (and the drip goes away).

I'm on day 5 of my first Whole30, and I've been doing so great! I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to stay compliant and not take the Benadryl (with a high likelihood of me getting sick), or take the Benadryl and essentially ruin the 5 days I've worked so hard on so far :( In my case, would it be ok to take it? Would I need to start over again?

I'd really appreciate any advice or feedback. Thank you!

I would see how you go without it and try some other methods.

Vaporiser, a salt water nasal spray, a compliant alternative (if you can find one - ask your doctor or chemist). Locally I can get something called Noz-Oil which is a medical grade sesame oil (no good if you're allergic to sesame) which helps prevent infection.

A lot of people find without grains and dairy that their sinuses are much better.

Benadryl is off limits?

Benadryl is not off limits, the small amount of stuff in a medication that will relieve suffering such as allergies or headaches, isn't enough to make a difference.  All praxis was saying was, try other routes first.
