Fasting before ultrasound

I searched, but didn't find an answer to this, and hope this is the right place to put this.

One reason I'm doing Whole30 is that I've had some unexplained abdominal discomfort for over three years.  After multiple tests, the doctors still don't know what it is, so I'm having (another) ultrasound next week.  I'm required to fast (nothing at all by mouth) beginning at midnight before my screening, which isn't until 10:15 the following morning.

I normally eat my last meal of the day at 7 PM, bedtime is around 10, and meal 1 is at 7 or 7:30 the next morning.   Should I stay up late and eat something right at midnight, or just stick with my regular schedule and take something with me to eat as soon as the test is over?

I'd stick with your regular schedule the day before, and then have a meal of protein, veg and fat as soon as you can after your ultrasound.

Thanks Chris!  The facility is 45 minutes from my home, so if the appointment takes an hour, it will be noon before I can eat.  That will have made it 17 hours since my last meal.  Is your advice still the same?

I had eye surgery and couldn't eat past midnight and my surgery wasn't until 2:00 pm. I still kept to my regular schedule of meals and went all those hours with no ill effects. My first meal that day was 22 hours since my previous meal. You could take an approved meal to eat in the car if you are very concerned about it.

My advice is still the same - why can't you take a meal of protein, veg and fat with you in your car to your ultrasound in a cooler or insulated bag and have it as soon as you're done?  (If it were me, i'd be ready to gnaw my arm off if I had to wait another 45 minutes to eat after not eating for that long.)

That's my concern!  It's cold enough here that I don't really need a cooler.  I'll just pack some hard boiled eggs, olives, and red bell pepper strips, and nosh on the drive home.
