Dannica
Hi Everyone, I'm writing because here I am on day 4, and I have had little to no withdrawal symptoms. I know, I know, some people will be saying that I shouldn't complain, but it has me wondering if I am doing this correctly. Am I eating too much possibly? I look at other's meal plans and couldn't imagine only having an apple and some almonds for breakfast, or 2 hard boiled eggs. For breakfast I've been eating a breakfast hash that has lean ground pork, sweet potatoes, onions, and I add an egg on top w/ avocado for my fats. Lunch I've been switching between beef stew and zoodles w/ a ground turkey sauce. Dinner has been different every night but it's always a protein and vegetables. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks,
jburth7
Most people undereat on Whole30, especially at first. They are afraid of 'calories' and have had years of bad advice saying less food is healthier, leads to weight loss, etc. Your breakfast looks good although its tough to say without a quantity attached to it if you're eating enough because again, I doubt you're overeating. I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms on my first Whole30 either except for the psychological one of still wanting a coke zero (blech!!!!). I never experienced the carb flu either and only had a slight amount of tiger blood toward the end. But, overall, I ended up feeling so much better, little things that just kept adding up and by the end I felt great! Many people say if you're diet was healthier before Whole30 and/or you didn't do a 'binge' before starting that you will have less side effects. I ate fairly healthy but a very americanized low-fat diet prior to Whole30, so I don't know if that left me immune to withdrawal effects or not... everyone is different! Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 21, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2016 The amount of suck that you feel in the first few days is really closely related to what your intake was like before you started Whole30. If you were eating cake for breakfast, doritos for lunch and Big Macs for dinner, you are going to be pretty hurting during the first 10 days or so. If you already ate fairly close to Whole30, you might not experience a tonne of unwanted side effects. That said, one of the things that helps the absolute most is eating enough and drinking enough water. As jburth said, it's hard to tell your actual portion sizes but if you are making it 4-5 hours between meals comfortably, you're probably doing fine. Our water recommendation is half an ounce per pound of bodyweight. So if you are 180#, 90 ounce of water a day.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted January 21, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 21, 2016 In addition to the factor of how a person ate before beginning Whole30, it seems there are a few other factors in how a person is impacted. skimping on amount of food you are eating at each meal skimping on the recommended fat amounts not eating according to the recommended template amounts for protein, fat, veggies (skipping Meal 1 or drinking a smoothie or eating just an apple, for instance) Sounds like you are eating according to the Meal Template -- keep up the good work!
