effy
Hello, I am on day 13, and overall I feel great. I have more energy. I feel thinner, and I am having little to no cravings. However, I have been having stomach issues from the very start of my Whole30. I do tend to eat more veggies for dinner, and I have noticed that right after I finish dinner within 5 mins I am running to the bathroom. Usually for lunch and breakfast I eat lighter meals that I rarely have problems with. I wanted to know if anyone else is having this problem? I am in college, and I did generally eat a lot of garbage before starting my whole30. I don't know if this constant diarrhea is because my body is still getting rid of the months of poor eating or what. I am thinking about adding a probiotic to my diet? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!
jmcbn
Can you give us a run down of exactly what you have been eating - that way we'd be better equipped to help you troubleshoot...
effy
My stomach gets more upset around dinner when I eat a normal size meal. Usually I will have a source of protein (chicken or beef usually) and a then the rest of it is some sort of vegetable (Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, green beans, and onions are some of my usuals). Usually the more vegetables I eat the worse my bathroom problems are. I haven't eaten many potatoes at all since starting. I tried to eat lighter last night and had pho with only carrots, bean sprouts, ginger, steak, and bamboo shoots- but it still upset my stomach. Sometimes my snacks make me sick as well. I have gotten sick from lara bars, epic bars, and even kombucha drinks. My portion size does tend to be smaller, because I have found that I get full very quickly. I am also drinking 8+ cups of water daily. My stomach doesn't even cramp or hurt when I have diarrhea- I am just tired of this happening every time after I eat dinner. Physibeth
I see a lot of fodmaps in your normal vegetable rotation (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, and onions) so it is possible that is causing your stomach irritation. You could try limiting your consumption of high fodmap foods to once a day and see if that helps. It could also be build up from the rest of the day. Could you lay out 2-3 complete days for us? Physibeth
Sorry it took me so long to respond to this, I've not been online very much. The first dinner makes me suspect that cauliflower may not be your friend (it isn't mine). The fact that you felt sick after all 3 of these dinners and had little to no lunch all 3 days also makes me wonder if by not eating lunch your body is rejecting these larger dinners. How hungry are you by the time you get to these meals? How many eggs are you having in the morning?
