Hello All,

Day 11 and feeling pretty settled into the routine... I read someone's post about throwing up. A moderator will hopefully weigh on this for you, but I've never heard of the whole 30 causing vomiting....?

I've started making warm salad mixtures to combat the frigid temperatures. For lunch today, I sauteed mango and strawberries just until they started releasing some of their juices, then added spinach, cubed avocado, and some left over steak strips...warming and satisfying...

It's day 8 for me...still struggling with the AM eating. I think this is probably related to my own health issues and not whole 30 so I need to forge a path for me that works for me. That said I did eat breakfast today - 2 hours after waking - and I did NOT throw up. Yay.

I am a tad grumpy today. I was grumpy on day 3 and wanted to kill everyone but the granddaughter who I was babysitting (thank god cause you can't kill people with a 15 month old in your lap) my DH suffered the most that day...his came on day 5. Has anyone else experienced this up and down feelings on this program. Today I am discouraged and I don't know why. I slept well last night. I woke up my usual happy self - then whammo -headache, stuffy head, and I am grouchy enough that I notice.

Hang in there and have a read through the Timeline, it can feel a little tougher for some days, but sticking with it really helps :)

http://whole30.com/2013/08/revised-timeline/ Some feel more starchy veg helps with grumpy.

ME TOO! The dreams are so real and so weird! I woke up wondering if I really did eat all those chocolate chip cookies? (I know, the cookies again...) Do I need to start over? Then I realize it was a dream and have to keep reminding myself that it never happened. Ha! Do I love cookies? YES, but the funny thing is I probably only ate them every couple months but since I started Whole 30 I want ALL THE COOKIES.

Also: Shameless plug for the Whole30 Daily. These emails are pretty awesome and really helping me stay motivated. I'm learning so much! If there is anyone who isn't currently getting the daily emails I highly suggest signing up!

Happy day 12 friends! We are almost half way there! Tiger blood is around the corner! Sending everyone good vibes!

No food dreams last night!! Woohoo Feeling great today. We are so close to being half way! I hope everyone has an awesome day 12 and happy Friday!

PS. I HIGHLY recommend making sure you get enough protein and fat in EACH of your 3 meals. Yesterday my lunch was a jumble of leftovers (mainly veggies) in order to clean out my fridge for some awesome new meals this weekend. As a result, I was hungry 3 hours later rather than 5 hours like usual and I also ended up grabbing some nuts to munch on before bed which I never do. So it completely made an impact on my day. It was all still compliant food but I didn't feel great at the end of the day like I usually do.

Great lesson you learned yesterday!  Isn't it wonderful when you can really understand your body and your signals and what helps/doesn't help?

Day 12 and I have to say I am still exhausted!  Fighting a brutal cold/cough thing since pretty much day 3...I know it's winter and all.  Went back to the gym on day 10 and 11 and it was a total slog to do the metcons on the board.  Having a hard time getting down the appropriately sized meals with having no appetite with this cough.  Wasn't expecting the fatigue to hang on for so long!  Totally failed on effective dinner prep tonight (no Lent friendly protein available...must plan better!) and find myself just wanted to inhale the bag of (compliant) dried pears staring at my from the counter next to the hubby's favorite Bourbon that he's just poured himself...grrrrr....any advice on fighting off this fatigue? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the best advice is to eat, and I do understand the not wanting to eat when you're sick. If you're not getting enough food, you're not going to have enough energy, though, so really make an effort to eat. I'd also say if you're still this tired, you probably don't need to do very strenuous workouts, instead go for a walk or do some yoga or something, don't put a lot of stress on yourself while you're still healing.

You might want to stock up on canned tuna or salmon, or hard boil some eggs (fish and eggs are allowed during Lent, right? I was raised Methodist, we didn't really have the dietary restrictions) -- something so there's no excuse not to eat a good meal.

Hello! I started my Whole30 on 2/1 as well. It's going really well. I had some cravings the first week, but they're pretty much gone today. My only odd dream was last night. I dreamt that I was on stage receiving an award and a standing ovation. I'm actually worried that this is going too easily.  :o

Day 16 for me here in Australia!

My sleeping is not great! However I keep forgetting to take my magnesium supplement and have starchy carbs at night. I am trying to remove white potato since it is a trigger food for me... I love potato chips and fries and I get immense satisfaction from eating anything white potato, so they need to go. I just don't like sweet potato that much.

So, with my sleep issues (constant waking in the night) and being a bit sore from my workout yesterday, I struggled to get out of bed this morning. However, once I was out, I was all good! I was quite chirpy when I got to work this morning which is a bit unusual!

My boyfriend commented last night that he likes it so much better when I'm not drinking, as I'm so much happier. I know alcohol is a major depressant for me and makes my mental issues a lot lot worse. So, it might have to be permanently removed from now on.

I don't know why I'm so sad about that? Clearly it messes with me both mentally and physically. Perhaps the drinking culture in Australia has a lot to do with it. Most people my age are binge drinkers here, so I guess maybe it's the participation or socialising with friends that I'm sad about - I don't know how to go out, socialise and have fun without drinking

It is possible to have a fun night out that includes, but does not revolve, around alcohol. Only a very small number of young Australians are binge drinkers. Perhaps spend more over dinner or tapas or have a drink and then see a movie. Just as with food choices, bad habits can be changed. Good luck!

Day 16 And feeling great!

Just wanted to comment and say I totally understand the difficulty behind hanging out with friends and not drinking. To take my mind off it I have been drinking la Croix water when hanging out with friends and reminding myself I don't need alcohol to have fun. The company of friends and loved ones is enough. Also, it's only 30 days. I should be able to go 30 days without alcohol right? Needless to say, I am looking forward to my glass of wine on day 31 ☺

Thanks for your support Summeradele and Karenaoki .

I guess I just can't do moderation when it comes to alcohol at the moment. Going without through the 30 days has been easy for me, However I'm worried about what will happen when the Whole 30 is over, It has just been so much a part of my life growing up, in my teenage years and adult life.

Just like the Whole 30 daily email said on Day 16, the brain doesn't like moderation. I may have to institute some rules regarding 1 drink to 2 waters, or something like that.

Part of it is learning new behavior. We know how to go out and socialize while drinking a lot and eating crappy food at 3am, but what does it look like when it changes? Good friends will support you in feeling healthier and happier. The rest is just practice.

Hello All!  I started Whole30 on Feb 1 with the rest of you, but I couldn't get on the forum!   I must have put my email address in wrong so I finally rejoined with a different email.  SO,  I've been reading about your journeys and relating to them all!  My boyfriend is doing this with me, which helps.  The no alcohol thing has been somewhat difficult (especially during the Superbowl...YEAH BRONCOS!).  I have terrible eczema (when I was little and now the past 8 months or so) and took a bunch of pictures, it's starting to clear up!  The sad part of reading about how good I'm supposed to feel on day 17 is that I caught a lousy cold a few days ago and am kind of miserable.   Getting better though.  I agree with whomever said they cook more than they ever have!  I love to cook and I'm still cooking more than I'm used to.  Looking forward to getting rid of this cold, getting rid of the rash, and feeling that 'tiger blood!'

Hey everyone! I started Feb 4 so I'm a few days behind you guys, but there isn't really a thread for me so I've been following along here. I'm on day 14 and things are going great! Yesterday was the first day I had energy, so that was a welcome development. I did a whole30 last year, so this is my second one. It's harder and easier at the same time. This go-round I'm trying to cook with different vegetables so I don't get into a rut. Also trying to spend my weekends exercising so I'm not tempted to stray. I live near a "restaurant-row" type street where everyone sits outside eating and drinking, so that's very tempting, but I know if I've gotten this far, I can finish. Happy hump day everyone!

After feeling sluggish especially with my work outs for 16 days, I am happy to say that the tiger blood has arrived!  Did a 4 mile run this am and felt awesome.  So glad that I have reached this point, I was starting to waiver on my commitment and now know that I can make it to day 30.

HI all:

bebeaccia here. I am currently on Day 10, so about 8 days behind everyone here. This is my first time on the forum and I've already posted to a group of folks that started on Feb 8th (like me), but I found myself wanting to hear what folks are feeling that are a bit farther along. Day 10 is the FIRST day that I've felt those feelings of not feeling different... mostly in my clothes. I do know that everything I've read indicates that this will change in the coming days, but I'm impatient..lol. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and congratulations to all you folks out there on Day 16... congrats.

Hi Whole30 friends! I need your help please. We are going out to lunch for my Grandfather's birthday today to his favorite restaurant, Houlihan's...basically the anti-whole30.  Will you please help me choose something for lunch or give me tips of what to ask?  I have read through the dining guide and meat guide, but this is my first time dining out and I'm still learning all the rules/additives/deceitful-code-words-on-labels.  I will be so sad if I have to start over because I accidentally ate something off plan! One thing I noticed is that they list the kind of beef: "USDA Prime Black Angus ground beed- responsibly and sustainable raised corn-fed beef from family farms."I can't remember is the corn-fed part a problem? Here is the menu. http://www.houlihans.com/eats-and-drinks/menu/lunch/creve-coeur If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!

Hope everyone is feeling pumped about day 18! I'm feeling very proud for all of us!

Corn fed beef isn't a problem.

You'll have to check on what meat has been marinated in, what seasonings are added to it, what it's cooked in. Specify not marinated, dry grilled with just salt and pepper or grilled in olive oil, no sauces or butter added to it. Vegetables will be safest steamed with no butter or sauces added. You might want to call the restaurant and talk to them before -- it might be easier to eat first and just have a side salad no dressing, no cheese, no croutons -- ask for oil and vinegar or lemon slices to squeeze over it, just so you're eating with everyone but not having to worry about ingredients.

I would go with the Thai grilled chicken. Just grilled No sauce (confirm they don't use butter when grilling)and it comes with grilled asparagus. Do the same with those for no butter. Simply let the server know you can't have dairy and ask if you can have a side salad with oil and vinegar instead of the rice(I think that was the other side) no croutons or cheese on the salad. Remember to thank him/her for being understanding of your alterations. I work in a restaurant and pull lots of doubles and have figured out how to alter most everything on our menu. It's doable just be specific
