liltarwen
Hi! I saw several different flavors of the Kolat Superfood Nut Butters and I was wondering if they were Whole30 compliant. I got the hazelnut and espresso flavored one since all the ingredients were compliant, but a couple others that looked really good I was unsure about since vanilla was listed as an ingredient. I wasn't sure if this meant vanilla extract or if it was natural. Could someone please clear this up for me?
GFChris
Anything with chocolate would be a no go on a Whole30 - no combining chocolate with fruit for treats. The nut butter and chia seed combinations I'd stay away from, as we want you to limit both seeds and nuts on a Whole30. Everything else, I would be cautious about consuming on a Whole30 - too easy to become food without breaks and eat straight from the jar.
missmary
This is not the kind of thing you should seek during your whole30. Focus on vegetables, protein and good fats instead. These are basically nut butters, sweetened with dates and flavored with things like blueberries, chocolate chips, vanilla, espresso, etc. They are a treat. Several of the flavors might be technically compliant, but considering regular, unsweetened nut butter is a food without breaks for lots of people, I would avoid these.
