Suzana0514
Hi everyone. I'm Suzana, new here, joined today the first day of my Whole30 journey. I'm really new to the whole thing and still just learning what to do, but I'm looking forward to connecting with all of you and learning along the way. A bit more about me: I'm from Chicago, married with two kids (a tween girl and toddler boy). We eat pretty well and our lifestyle and food choices have changed a lot when we found out about our sons food allergies, something we never had in our families before. He is 22 months now and currently allergic to: wheat, eggs, dairy, soy, tree nuts and peanuts. I avoid all the foods he can't have and am looking to take our food choices a step further and hopefully get my husband and daughter on board as well I am looking forward to the next 30 days and so far day one was a success! jen c
Hi Suzana, Welcome aboard! I'm a newbie too and saw that you also posted on the other thread for those of us starting on 2/22 (the thread started by katieblue). I'm over there too, but thought I'd take a moment to connect with you here. We live with life-threatening food allergies too (egg, dairy, sesame, peanut, tree nuts, watermelon), so I understand completely how it changes food habits and cooking practices. Our family is now 10 years in and it's become easier as time has gone on. It's just become our norm. Reading labels is second nature and providing our own food at gatherings is routine. I anticipate that these habits will make it easier for us to take on The Whole 30 than for those who don't usually have to give food a second thought. Food allergies cause us to have food on our minds all. the. time. In a strange way, that could work to our benefit in the coming month. Good luck as you're beginning your Whole 30! Suzana0514
Thanks Jen Allergies are hard, but it gets easier with each day. And yes, reading labels it's like a normal, everyday part of life for us too. Currently for me I think it's going to be hard without rice and all the gluten free baking I make for my son LOL. I'm not giving up much exept corn, rice, quinoa and Enjoy Life cookies ah the cookies... But I'm positive we can do this!!!
