Predicting a reintroduction failure!

Hi all,

When I planned my Whole30 I picked the 30 days between Valentines Day and the day I would leave for a trip to Reno for a few days over spring break for an intercollegiate wind ensemble thing. Of course I planned this without knowing about how the reintroduction process works :(

So now I'm on day 8 and feeling kind of stuck!! I know that try as I might, it will be impossible for me to continue the proper reintroduction plan while I'm away from my kitchen and on a tight rehearsal & performance schedule. And what I'm REALLY worried about is feeling SICK while I'm on stage! :(

I'm not doing this Whole30 because I'm worried about sensitivities (though I know from reading It Starts With Food that I probably have digestive/inflammatory problems with these foods and just don't know it), I'm mostly doing it to 1) have a healthier relationship with food, 2) be healthier in general, and 3) lose weight, possibly.

I read on another thread that someone suggested ending the Whole30 early so that they could get the full reintroduction period in.... This is my first Whole30, though, so it doesn't feel appropriate to cut it off at day 20... but I'll do it if it's going to be the best way to prepare my body for the inevitable pizza it will be given in Reno!

Let me know what you think!! Thank you!

- Lauren

The problem with beginning reintroductions at day 20 is that you cannot be sure your gut is fully healed, so your reintroductions may not give you completely clear information about any sensitivities you might have.

You might consider stopping at day 20 and reintroducing before your trip, but you would need to do a full Whole30 later to really get the information you need.

I think that you sound motivated to improve your eating habits over the long term. I suggest you use this 20 days as a practice run, come back and do a full W30, and then take all of these learning experiences to set you on a course for your healthy long-term plan. It doesn't end at 30 days, it really only starts there.
