samianne724
Every time I go to make eggs and use coconut oil to grease the pan, my eggs stick to the bottom like GLUE. This happens whether its baking them in a frittata in the oven or scrambling them on the stove top. I'm not sure if I'd have the same result if cooking another food, like vegetables, as I usually use olive oil or ghee for those. I know this is a quick fix and I can just switch to ghee to avoid the problem, but I really like the way coconut oil tastes with eggs and was wondering if anyone else has this problem?! Is it just me?
QuilterInVA
I never have that problem. I use cast iron to cook my eggs. Are you heating the pan, then putting in the coconut oil, and finally the eggs?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted February 23, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 23, 2016 It may be the particular brand of coconut oil that you are using. I have used about 10 different brands over the years. I started with the cheapest stuff I could find and have gradually moved up to paying more to get a better product. I don't remember having problems with coconut oil and eggs with any of them, but you might try another brand. You might also try using more. I tend to be very generous with cooking fat in skillets. Carlaccini
Hmmmm - could you possibly be using coconut butter? If that is the case - coconut butter is not the same as coconut oil.... and yes will result in a sticky gloopy mess.
