DAY 3-Just not hungry?!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My name is Gen and I am on Day 3 of my whole30.  Day 1 was hell for me and I am now feeling a bit better, but have noticed since starting my whole30, I feel as though I have no appetite at all.  Yesterday; I had to force myself to eat lunch-I just wasn't really hungry for food at all.

I have about 35 pounds I'd like to lose, plus some other issues to heal.  I suspect I have been insulin resistant for about 5 years or so as that is when I began to put on weight (at age 43).  I just don't get it-shouldn't I feel hungrier than usual during my whole30?  Prior to my whole30, I had a history of skipping meals and just not eating enough.

Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated!

Thank you :)

Nope. Not at all.

We don't want you to feel hungry, and provided you are eating three template meals, 4-5hrs apart you shouldn't feel hungry.

Can you give us an idea of what exactly you have been eating over the past three days indicating portion sizes, liquid intake & activity levels?

Hello jmcbn,

thank you for your reply...I haven't been writing down my meals so unfortunately I don't remember anymore what I ate, but I followed the rules exactly.  I also haven't been doing much physical activity aside from about 20 mins walking a day, so that could also be the cause of not feeling so hungry :)

I guess I will just forge on and not sweat it so much.

It's probably best to keep a food log going forward.

You can set one up >here< if you like - just click on 'start new topic' at the top right & post away, adding a new post as often as you like. It will help you to see any patterns going forward with regard to energy levels, bowel issues etc - or in cases like this where you're not sure if you're maybe eating too much...

If it is the case that you just aren't feeling hungry we would advise you to plate up a template meal, eat as much of it as you can (ensuring you get a little of each food group) and then wrap up the remainder to eat as soon as you feel able - a lack of appetite is indicative of a hormone imbalance, and NOT eating will only perpetuate that so we'd encourage you to keep trying until that appetite comes back - and it will.
