SCL Whole 30 Log

I am on day 8 of my Whole 30. It has had its ups and downs, but I definitely feel different, and different better.

Things that are good:

  • I feel lighter around the middle. I can look in the mirror and see I'm not thinner. But I feel...lighter. I don't know how else to describe it.
  • The first several nights, I slept well.
  • I have lots of healthy foods in my fridge and cabinet, and I've already learned some delicious new recipes that are not hard to make.
  • Homemade guacamole.

Things that are hard:

  • Cooking time - finding enough of it. If I spend most of Sunday in the kitchen making food, I'll be in good shape. But this will take some motivation and schedule-juggling.
  • Sometimes headaches - so far, very solvable with salted cashews.
  • Doing this alone - no buddy to call or text for support.
  • Obsession with food. I have one. I think about food, and what I'm going to eat, and when...it's overwhelming.
  • Getting grumpy with my kids when I'm obsessing about food, or haven't had enough to eat. I don't like that.
  • Lenten Fridays - I'm abstaining from meat Fridays, and I have to be ready with meatless protein options.

Tomorrow I'm going to cook a crock pot recipe with a pork roast, and a couple of soups, and roast some potatoes (roasted potatoes with something mixed into it has become my standard lunch for work). I'll cook again Tuesday since that's a lighter day of the week after work (as far as my kids' activities go).
