Hello all! I've mostly finished ISWF and have kicked off my experiment. Things are going really well at this point! Looking forward to good things indeed! I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired! Here's a link to my blog. I hope it will inspire someone besides myself

An old Steve Perry lyric keeps bouncing around in my head so I'll share it with You as well:

"Be good to yourself.Nobody else will!"

I looked at your blog and noted a few things. "It Starts With Food" was the first book and is the science behind the program. "The Whole30" came out last year and is more of a how to do the program and cookbook.

Fruit smoothies are out. You are encouraged to eat real food, not drink it, because it is more satiating. You need more vegetables and less fruit and don't snack on nuts alone. Nuts should be used sparingly as a part of a meal. They are hard to digest for some and way too easy to overeat.

Do you know the meal template? It's 1-2 palms of protein + 1-3 cups of veggies (try to get 2-3 for sure) + 1-2 thumbs of fat for each meal and at least 2 of those if you absolutely must snack - test for that is steamed fish and broccoli sounds great. Plan your meals so you can go 4-5 hours without snacking.

I suggest you click on "The Whole30" tab above and read everything if you haven't already.

Your off to a great snack and I mean for my comments to be helpful, not a criticism.

Looking forward to more of your posts.

Thanks for the input! To be brief I'll say that yes I understand the internal framework of the program and I'm getting more and more in line with the finer points as I go. The broader view is that I haven't broken any of the basic rules here. I'm finding my own way to get this done while working 60 hours per week and a 40 minute commute both ways. Also understand that typical human habits aren't broken easily. I'm trying (and succeeding so far) to change 45 years of bad eating with the flip of a switch.

On another note I will assume that your screen name indicates that you do in fact make quilts. If so I'm wondering if you ever market them? I'M looking to find a new one for our bedroom by next winter and possibly surprise the Mrs with it.

I do make quilts but I don't sell them.

You could have 4 meals since you are working so much if you need them. I'm 74 years old and started this last September so I do know about breaking old habits. As soon as I started feeling better and having less arthritis pain, it became a lot easier. It will get easier for you, too.
