livelaughlove
Hello- I am a 30 year old female, 5' 4" and weigh around 115-120 pounds depending on the day. I workout 4-6 days a week (cardio –run 3-6 miles and strength training) I am able to push through my workouts most days. It is weird though that one day I can finish my routine like nothing is wrong and then on another day I have to walk away (walking away is not like me…when I was training for a ½ marathon I was running on a heel fracture for weeks before I gave in and went to the doctor) all that said just so you understand I am not a stranger to pain or pushing. I push through a lot!! I was diagnosed with “leaky gut†March 2012 and put on a Candida diet. I followed the diet to the T and received oxidative IV therapies which started to make me feel much better. To my disappointment, I was unable to continue the IV therapies b/c my veins were blowing and I was physically unable to continue. I am not sure if this is what caused my regression or not however, all of my old symptoms came back and much worse this time. I ended up getting all my medical records sent to me, at which time, I discovered I had been to the doctor several times throughout my years for like symptoms such as; feeling flu-like but not actually having the flu, feeling feverish without a fever, extreme fatigue, burning in my hands and feet, and major water retention along with many more which got me thinking ‘this is a cycle' and looking for more answers which lead me to autoimmune. I have a higher than normal ANA but otherwise appear fine to conventional doctors. Now that you know a little about me I can get to my question. I started the whole 30 on 8/12/12 and my symptoms actually got worse (possibly because I introduced more fruit than I should have considering the Candida issue?) not sure. I stuck it out because I believe 100% in the whole 30 and was looking forward to relief. Since I was unable to succeed with that I looked more heavily into the whole30 and gave up the autoimmune foods as well, which has me eating vegetables and meat for all my meals. I am now on day 5 and yesterday I was in so much pain I had to call off work. I had no energy at all and the pain in my hands, feet, ribcage and neck was ridiculous. I am wondering if this is normal or if I am missing something? I also noticed for a while now when I workout I have a very strong smell of ammonia in my nose. I discovered, via the wonderful internet, this is due to your body switching from burning carbohydrates to protein? Is this good for me? Should I change something with my diet? I am really lost. I have read so much information and have gone to many doctors both conventional and holistic. I would sincerely appreciate any guidance as I am only 30 and would love to start feeling it J
Andrea D.
I went through a period of time where I had that weird ammonia smell during and after a workout and I finally drew the conclusion it was only happening when I was working out too hard...once I backed off the intensity during the workout it stopped. It sounds like your body is working really hard to heal so I would think lowering the intensity of your workouts might help...
