Collice
I know plantains are akin to bananas but are they considered a starch or a fruit. I was planning on using one plantains worth of dehydrated chips to provide crunch on our taco salads this week. We are not yet on our whole30 but I'm already integrating at least 5 whole30 approved dinners a week to gear us up. Thanks in advance for your advice and responses. jmcbn
Plaintains are considered a starch when the skin is green. If the skin is black then they are sweet and more like a fruit.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 19, 2016 Plantains are high in carbs whether green or "ripe." You are planning to make your own chips, aren't you? No commercially prepared chips are okay during a Whole30, regardless of ingredients.
Collice
Ok. Thanks for the info. And yes, I make all my own foods. That way I know exactly what's going into our bodies. I'm only dehydrating one just to provide that "crouton like crunch" on our salads.
