Breakfast

Recommended Posts

Hiya all, I'm looking to start my whole30 on Monday, however I am abit stuck for ideas on what to have for breakfast, I would usually have toast or cereal, which obvs are now a big no no, and other than eggs, I can't think what else would be suitable to have for breakfast but would rather not have eggs every morning if I can help it. Any suggestions are much appreciated and thank you in advance.

There have been plenty of days where I've had salmon cakes and kale or chicken and green beans for meal 1 because I didn't want eggs. You don't need to limit yourself to things that seem "breakfasty" and you can just eat anything that fits the template in the morning :)

I have basically taken to making mince with interesting things! Recently I have turkey mince fried in a pan with leeks and kale and coriander. I plan on making pork mince with chopped apples and spinach for another week. I also make diced courgettes cooked in chicken broth (though a bit of water also works!) with ginger and curry powder.

I can't eat eggs as I'm intolerant to them so I have to be a bit more inventive. I find especially as you are first getting used to it it might be a good idea to have less meat (and go for chicken and turkey as they can be quite bland) and more vegetables until you get more used to eating that kind of food in the morning. It's great as you can prep the night before and eat during the week! I pretty much just ate minced chicken and courgettes together for ages when I first started eating paleo!

You don't have to ever eat an egg on the W30. You can eat anything for breakfast. This morning I felt like something cold so I made a big, big salad with a leftover chicken breast. Some days I have soup or chili or stew. Just as typical breakfast foods aren't just eaten in the morning, other typically lunch and dinner foods can be eaten in the morning.
