Ice In July
I'm on day 7 of my first round. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to drink black coffee. I picked up a French press and have been cold brewing some higher quality beans. My biggest hindrance has been my husband's diet. He has a few medical conditions that leave him with an "interesting" meal plan, so Whole30 is not an option for him at all. I feel like I'm cooking all the time. Several years ago, I had my gallbladder removed. It caused some long-term oddities with my gut so I have to eat every 3 to 4 hours with avoid pain or bloating. I've been trying to eat things that will keep me full for at least 3 hours, as getting to the magic 5 to 6 hour mark isn't something I'm ready to experiment with quite yet. On the plus side, the ravenous always hungry feeling went away today, and my initial stomach woes are gone. My headaches are mostly cleared up, my skin is improving and I have a bit more energy. I've started broadening my horizons on what I eat at home and take to work for lunch. Overall, I think week 1 has been a success. Rough at times, but definitely a positive. Lunch - baby greens topped with a clementine, blackberries and a cashew/walnut/macademia blend. I put some guacamole on the side for dipping. schimki
Great! I'm glad you made it through the first week. It sounds like you're figuring it out. Now that you're feeling some of the benefits, you should be more motivated to keep going.
Ice In July
Some of the stomach troubles are back. I had to go off plan for meds - out of nowhere yesterday I developed a raging upper respiratory infection. It hit me fast and hard. One minute my throat was a little scratchy and the next I was coughing junk up and couldn't breathe. Antibiotics and cough meds for me. The antibiotics aren't doing great things for my stomach, so I'll need to pick up a good probiotic later today.
Ice In July
Almost a week later and the cough is still hanging around. I guess it's the nasty bronchial virus that's been circulating and seems to never quit. I've been able to stay on plan (aside from some deviations for medications/preventatives), but over the last 2 days my appetite has disappeared. I'm always "craving" something but never have the appetite to each much.
Emma
Oh gosh - we've had an ugly bronchial virus hit our small community big time. It hit almost everybody it seemed and the walk in clinic and emergency room were super busy for a couple weeks with pretty severe cases. Glad you're through the rough part and hope it continues to clear up. No fun at all!
madness
I can't imagine being sick and sticking with this. Good job! I would just fall into bed and hope that someone else would feed me.
