Vanilla Bean Paste

Recommended Posts

I bought a coconut ChiaCo Chia Pod this morning and recognised all of the ingredients except vanilla bean paste. Though I know what this is, I don't know how it is made or what is in it. I assumed that's the thing that is making it palatable but I don't know if this is just concentrated vanilla or if there are things added to make it into a paste, including sugar.

Ingredients are chia seed gel (chia seeds and filtered water), cinnamon, coconut milk, vanilla bean paste.

I guess if I am in doubt, then it's best to avoid it. ChiaCo seem to use whole products, but this particular ingredient would be good to know about since I like foods with vanilla in them.

If there's sugar in it, then they need to declare it... that said, chia pudding is really not in the spirit of the Whole30... it's a dessert item...it does not match any part of the template. For best results, you would be better off leaving it alone for the 30 days.
