phoodie
I'm a complete slave to food. This is my journey to free myself. I may not start out perfectly Whole 30, especially since I just had a baby and am breastfeeding. (I attempted it 4 times after I gave birth and ended up feeling like I was dying every time because of the lack of carbs. I never had this issue before, so I'm assuming it's because of my current physiology). I'm going to stick as closely as possible to the Whole 30 template, but in case I don't, I won't beat myself up and I'll keep going until I get there. The start is always hard and messy and imperfect, but I'll never achieve my goal unless I start.

Hey phoodie - welcome to the forums Whole30 is not meant to be low carb - yes, it's naturally lower carb that the traditional western diet, but you can get all of the carbs that you need from whole foods. Be sure to include lots of starchy veg like potato, sweet potato, parsnip, turnip, plantains etc and you should be okay. Also as a nursing mum we'd recommend four template meals per day or at least three template meals plus snacks made up of at least two of the tree food groups, with protein & fat being your best option. And don't fear the fat - this will help keep up your milk supply, keep your energy levels up, and keep you sane! Many of our nursing mums sip on some coconut milk throughout the day. And lastly water - the recommendation is for a half an ounce per pound of body weight daily - as a nursing mum make sure you're hitting at least this target... Best of luck!!
