First Whole30!!!

First of all, I'm doing this for many reasons that I'm sure everyone here can relate to, but my main one is to cut out all the sugar I've been eating. I already eat fairly well, but I can eat candy like an 8 year old who thinks it's all going away tomorrow and never coming back. It pretty much stomps on all my other efforts. Haha I'm a runner so saying goodbye to all grains has been a little scary for me.

That being said, I'm on day three and LOVING everything I've been eating so far! I haven't even been missing any of the cheese or grains I'm not eating with my meals. I did, however, come to the strong realization yesterday that I can't have a cookie until June. Cookies are my thing. (The goal is to make it "cookies were my thing.")

So far my favorite meal has been Melissa's Chicken Hash and my breakfasts because there's bacon. Plus, me and eggs have always been tight.

The first day in the Whole30 Timeline was SPOT ON for me. Excited, nervous, overwhelmed one second, overly confident the next. I spent most of my day shopping/cooking for the week in the hopes of being less stressed out later. So far it's working. Day two I felt great still and actually ran for the first time in over a month (I was out due to a small stress fracture) As for day 3, holy crap, I am so tired. I can't wait to go to bed tonight. I ate a big delicious breakfast and it perked me up for a little while. I had fried eggs over sautéed sweet potatoes with asparagus and bacon. Yum! But now I'm zombie-ing around. I don't like to drink coffee regularly, but I might have to fold today. Fortunately I already drank it black or with cinnamon.

Looking forward to reading a bunch of everyone's updates!! I feel like I'm driving my friends/family crazy talking about this so much for the last few weeks. :P

I'm doing my first W30 too!  We started on the same day, apparently. :)  I felt pretty terrible this morning - very lethargic, my muscles seemed exhausted, my brain was cloudy..  then I read the daily email and felt better!  I knew that I'd have days like this, but I'm so glad that the email confirmed that "this too shall pass."

I've made a few of the sauces and dressings from the book so far, but mostly I'm just winging it!  I commute an hour to work and another hour home, so I have to find things that are super easy to throw together. I made a spinach and tomato egg-bake on Sunday, which I'm cutting up each morning and taking to work with me (with some berries).  I'm lucky that we have an onsite cafeteria here - I can eat from the salad bar pretty easily, but I'm bringing my own protein (theirs is seasoned with something that contains sulfites) and my own dressing.  So far so good!

I feel a little "droopy" today but I'm OK ... I think lunch will help! I'm also trying to drink a LOT of water. :D  I'm having the same feelings that you are!  Totally excited and completely overwhelmed, at the same time. I know I can do it - you can too!

My reasons for doing the W30 are partly about diet but mostly about health.  Nobody can figure out what's wrong with me, so I'm taking my health into my own hands!!!  Let's do this!

Rebecca, I totally forgot about the email! I'll have to set that up. Thanks for the reminder! And that's a great idea with the egg bake. I used to take oatmeal with me every once in a while in a pinch so I was looking for a "on the go" idea.

Day 4 and so far I feel better than yesterday, almost lighter too but not weight wise... Idono if that makes sense. Anyways, heading to the gym then I'm gonna try to use up some of my veggies with my eggs this morning. Leftover chicken hash for lunch and I'm poaching salmon for my boyfriend and I tonight. I'm trying to always have a snack handy as well incase I get cranky. :P

Day 5!!!

A little irritable and my dreams have been pretty weird the last couple nights. One was about a giant plate of fudge. Haha! But other than that I've been feeling pretty good. Fried eggs over broccoli carrots and cauliflower with bacon and an orange for breakfast, leftovers and maybe a chicken salad for my other meals today. Boiled some eggs today to have as a snack since I have some long work days ahead of me. Almost a week in feels like a soon to be great accomplishment! I already can't wait to try some new recipes next week.

I'm on day 11 and all I want to do is eat 5 cliff bars and so much candy. I haven't logged at all lately since I've pretty much felt the same except my pants are looser, sports bras fit agai and I've been a little more tired but not by much. I've also been working more so it could be a combination of both. Eating a (compliant) larabar as a snack at work (GASP, Fruit!) haha can't finish it, too sweet. O_O I have jerky too though. I found a favorite! It's effing delicious. EPIC bites, beef steak with cranberry and sriracha if anyone's still searching. ;) this morning I was in a hurry so I put my homemade garlic mayo on some hard boiled eggs in a bowl with sliced avocado. So good!

I feel like I should mention that I'm sitting in the break room next to over a dozen cupcakes. If that's not willpower, I don't know what is.
