Am eager to see what the next week brings. Found that the recipes were more than enough for leftovers, so will not be buying as much food in the coming weeks as I did to start the program. Was lucky that my man was out of town for the past 5 days so he didn't have to experience 'kill all the things' :) I think the hardest part for me is going to be finding appropriate things to eat when dining out. Found that my senses were on overload, as just the SMELL of restaurant food was tough to handle! I have a tradition (habit!) of frequenting one restaurant every Thursday evening before going to a standing appointment and it was super difficult to skip that glass of wine and Sicilian-stuffed artichoke. Have already decided that will be my 'first meal' when my first 30 is done, but I'm already guessing I won't enjoy it as much as I used to :) Have a great week 2 everyone!

We made it a week! It should be all unicorns and rainbows from here on out, right? :)  I'm a little bummed because in a week and a half, my wife, infant son, and I will be heading back "home" (we currently live out of state while I finish my medical education), and it's going to be sad not to eat at our favorite restaurants and it's going to be difficult to get family to understand that. Even harder because it'll be another 4-5 months before we're able to go back. Oh well. Sacrifices in the name of health and all that.

Good luck to everyone in week 2!

Day 7 was relaxing. Unlike most Sundays when I cook for the week ahead, I am going to be working off the leftovers and freezer this week to make room. I'm going to be getting an order of grass fed beef next weekend from a local farmer. Once you've gotten used to eating it, it's hard to go back. Many people can get a wider variety of grass fed cuts in the US now that many chains sell Australian beef and New Zealand lamb. These pasture raised animals are tasty indeed.

Hopefully many of you will start to recover from your week one travails with withdrawals from the processed and refined. Please know that better days are ahead.

Here's to week 2, enjoy.

Finished my meal prepping with a big batch of ratatouille and some stuffed peppers. Some will go in the freezer for times I don't feel like cooking. Did some steamed vegs and ground beef to finish off my batches for my lunches for the week. I find I need a full 3 cups of cooked vegs to get me through the 5 hour span until supper. Was thinking a glass of wine would be nice with my cooking. Reached for some kombucha instead.

SugarcubeOD, thank you for your encouragement and advice. You were absolutely correct...this evening the large bumps went down and the ones I felt oncoming this morning haven't!! Day 7 done! Whew. Do you use a food processor for cutting, dicing, slicing veggies? I've been looking at a few; thinking one might save me some time. Thoughts??

I have only used my FP once so far, but I do love it. It's the basic Cuisinart. Ordered a small spiral slicer, which did not work well, so I ordered one that is bigger and has suction cups and a crank handle. I just have to try zodles!

Good luck in week 2, everyone. I appreciate the encouragement here.

So tired that I posted this on a thread about sausage first. Lol. Oops. I forgot I was reading that one when I got interrupted by one of my kids. Thought I was still reading this one when I posted! So embarrassing.

Well, my daughter lasted three days on Whole30. I had an appointment yesterday afternoon that went through dinner time. I left her with plenty of food in the fridge to choose from....but Daddy ordered pizza for the rest of them. She messaged me that she was "going to eat healthy for breakfast and dinners, but from now on (she) was going to eat whatever (she) want(s) for lunch and snacks". So, I'm going it alone again. That's alright!

I tried kombucha last night. I got GT's Gingerade. It was pretty good, but it left me feeling almost tipsy for a little while. So weird.

I'm getting low on my prepped food. Hoping to make it to Wednesday before I need to go grocery shopping or make some more.

I try to stay off of the computer on the weekends since I am on it so much during the week at work, but Day #6 and Day #7 were pretty horrible.  I was nauseous, irritable, and had a headache all weekend.  I was snapping at everything.  Nothing was helping.  I woke up today (Day #8) feeling so much better than I had the last two days.  I'm hoping that's the last big hump. We went out to the family dinner on Saturday and that was a challenge but I got through it.  Social situations were definitely a test this weekend but I didn't falter, for how bad I felt I am pretty proud that I didn't give into anything.

I'm breaking out too, nothing horrible and pretty sure that I just notice it but they are under the skin and cystic as well.  Seems like it is already starting to go away.

Happy week #2!

Gingerade kombucha-my favorite! I've tried other flavors but they always seem too sweet. Kombucha has trace alcohol from the fermentation process but not enough to make a person tipsy. Still, enjoy. The probiotics are said to be really good for restoring gut flora.

I've been trying to up my vegs and can see I'm running lower than usual. Did a tray of roasted frozen cauliflower and fresh green beans while I was making and then eating dinner. The frozen vegs are my best friend for when I need a quick fix.

This is my second round of the Whole 30 and I still haven't tried the sunshine sauce! I think I'm going to have to whip some of that up by the weekend as it sounds like something I would enjoy.

It is the start of day 9 today and I am feeling pretty darn good! I just finished eating my morning frittata and I have a yummy chicken broth cooking in the crockpot at home.

Hot flashes though! So hot flashes started for me about a year ago. I finished my first Whole 30 this last February, and at about the 3 week mark of my first round, they just stopped. About a month ago they started up again! Since I finished my first round I continued eating Whole 30ish for the most part, so I'm surprised they are back in full force. It will be interesting to see if they stop again.

I have plenty of leftovers at home so I won't have to do cooking this week til Thursday now. But here's a bummer...I was just offered a new job and I can't even have a celebratory glass of vino!

Yesterday was a challenge. I was in a hurry to go somewhere after lunch and didn't eat quite enough. Then I was offered sweets and chips. It would have been easier to resist if I hadn't been a little hungry, but I resisted anyway.

This week I'm mostly doing "ingredient meals." I roasted a chicken last night, and did some roasted veg to go with it. Steak, potato, and salad tonight. What's not to love about that?

The scale has been calling me, and I don't think of myself as being hooked on weighing myself. I can go weeks without stepping on it. But, I think that whenever I try to "be healthier" I use the scale more often. OK, I get it! If I let the scale number discourage me, as it so easily does, I lose whatever progress I've made, and beat myself up for not trying hard enough. So I'm staying off it.

I think my hunger is changing. When I was eating a lot of sugar I would get desperately hungry and absolutely have to eat or I'd get really weak and crabby. Now, when a mealtime is approaching, I start to feel hungry, but it's mild. It increases over time, but it doesn't have that frantic feeling about it. I don't know if that makes sense the way I'm explaining it, but I'm hoping that it means I'm becoming fat adapted.

I definitely felt better yesterday then I did the whole weekend.  Day #9 and I am still feeling tired.  I am really not having any other symptoms other than that.  I was waking up before my alarm last week and that really isn't happening this week, at least not yet.  I'm getting plenty of sleep too, so I'm hoping that this feeling is gone soon.

Day 6 for me. I feel less hungry over all. Made a vinaigrette this morning for my luck sale of spinach, chicken, avocado and mango. Can't wait!

I think I overdosed on sunshine sauce last night. Feel fine this morning, though. And I even have good memories, with thanks, for something like that. Yum

Thanks Leigh Anne. I'll check it out.

Day 9. I'm so tired and have a headache. I'm not falling asleep quickly at all. Actually it's the reverse. Very restless. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I remember someone else having the same complaint when I did my first round. When the moderator took a look at the daily intake of the person they found that not only were they not eating enough food, but definitely not enough fat. I wonder if you should post what you have eaten for the past couple of days so the moderator can review it and make any suggestions if needed. You could still just be in that "hangover" stage a little longer than normal too.

Has anyone been drinking a *ton* of water? I'm drinking well more than the 1/2 oz per body weight though I've read that this is normal for high protein diets because you need more water to digest your food? Still, so much water!

While the magnesium and vitamin d have done wonders for the night time leg craps, I've also been waking up with stiff hands and a stiff neck. Ow.

Actually, I think those are great steps for your daughter! My daughter is 12 and while I prepare compliant meals and pack her a nice lunch, I don't police what she eats at school. Still, I've seen a huge positive different in her going to sleep at night and those pre-adolescent mood swings.

Just had my bff over for lunch. I made protein salad with chicken, grapes, pecans, and homemade mayo. She loved it. I explained the Whole30 to her, and she jumped on board! She has headaches that she knows are caused by sugar and wheat. She's ordered the book and plans to give up sugar right away. She'll be traveling, so will start the full program when she gets back.

That was fun!

What is sunshine sauce? Sounds like something I need!

I made the same thing for my hubs! But I add celery. It adds a nice crunch!

Hello Day 9!! After my first successful Mayo making, I just failed TWICE in a row! What am I doing wrong? I am using extra light olive oil. Should I use regular? Everything was room temperature and I blended it the same way. I wanted to make the ranch dressing found in the Whole30 book!

Anyhow... Other than non-emulsefied mayo all is well here on day 9. My appetite has decreased for the most part, though occasionally it roars back and I find myself grabbing nuts and raisins. eep!

Tonight I made coconut curry chicken! Sooooo good! And sauted zucchini, onions, and tomoatoes in ghee. No problem getting enough "good fats" here. I think I am losing weight.... not sure. If I stepped on that scale and it showed I hadn't lost weight.... argh! I see why they say not too.

Some mystery rashes have returned.Boo. I hope its a detox thing!

The end. For now.
