They started day 7 at bedtime...major hunger pangs...keep you awake hunger pangs.  This happened again last night, night 8, and now they are happening today throughout day 9.

I don't remember this stage in previous Whole30's, but who knows, it could have happened.

Anyway, I'm eating three model meals a day: 1-2 servings protein, 1-2 servings fat, fill the plate with veggies...1 fruit serving at lunch and dinner.  Tons of water, some herbal tea, and a little coffee in between (no coffee after 2pm).

So I'm well fed, well hydrated and pre-Whole30 I did not eat later dinners or evening snacks or daily routine foods so why are these beasts showing up now?

Is this possible a leptin resistance issue or just a normal Whole30 phase?  I'm trying to figure out if this is temporary and will pass or a sign that I need to adjust something.  I don't have any specific cravings, just hunger pangs around 9-10pm and as of today I woke up with them and they started again about two hours after breakfast and stayed till lunch.  I just had lunch so I'm not sure when they'll hit again.  I'm eating full plates of food at my meals and the ingredients are varied.

Does anyone have advice?

Hey there

In order to give you specific advice, can you list your meals in more detail?  I see that it looks like you're working to the template but actually seeing what your'e eating and meal timing would be super helpful...

Keep you awake hunger pains are not normal if you are eating 3 template meals a day... is your day extra long? If you went 4-5 hours between would you be able to reasonably put another meal in there?

The days have been a bit longer recently...I usually eat breakfast between 7:45-8am, lunch 12-1pm, dinner 5-6pm...I get up at 6:15, but this week there is a work convention causing me to get up around 5:45 (I eat breakfast around 6:15 those days), and I typically go to bed between 10 -10:30pm

Meals: protein (meat size of palm or a little more if I feel hungry/ 2-3 eggs)

Fat: 1/2 - 1 full avocado/ closed handful nuts/ open handful olives or coconut flakes/ 2T. olive, avocado, or coconut oil

Veggies: I try for two full veggies such as carrot and zucchini or 1/2 freezer bag of frozen veggies, salad is big handful of greens + random veggies, 1/2 - 1 sweet potato

I have adrenal and thyroid issues...I know that prior to Whole30 my energy was better with a small afternoon snack and generally a bit more healthy fats

Example of a meal:

Steak...that's a serving the size of my palm, but I actually had two more slices than that (cooked in avodaco oil)

Sweet potato topped with coconut milk & cinnamon

Sauerkraut (prob 1/2 cup)

Steamed broccoli (prob 1 cup)

Not pictured, 1 kiwi

I just read in another post that your menstrual cycle can affect appetite.  I'm on day 23 of mine so that could be it...?

Absolutely, yes.

Many people report increased hunger in the week before their period - and in particular an increased cravings for carbs (for which their is a scientific reason).

Give your body what it needs.
