So this is Day 11...

Hi, I'm Heather.  My daughter and I started Whole30 11 days ago, and so far, so good.  I'm really enjoying the program, except on Day 5--you know, one of those "Kill ALL the Things" days when a co-worker had no-bake chocolate cookies.  I had to walk away before performing mayhem on his person.

I think the thing I like most about Whole30 so far is being able to say, "I made that and I know EVERYTHING that went into it." We even tried Whole30 compliant Barbecue Sauce this past weekend--I'll admit my brain was saying, "This would be SOOOOO much better with brown sugar or honey!" I was proud I fought that thought, when the 5-yr-old grandson--who, along with his 14-yr-old uncle, is NOT on the program, except for our family evening meal--said it was good.

The one concern I have after going to most of the grocery stores in our area (the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia) is: canned tuna.  Both the Whole30 and It Starts With Food books mention this as being a go-to protein source. However, all of the canned tuna I find has soy listed as an ingredient or "possible" ingredient.  Does anyone know of a brand that does not have this component? Or should I just leave this out of the cabinet for the next 19 days?

And when it comes to the labels that read "This has been processed in a facility that also processes soy, tree nuts, etc." should we avoid those as well?  I have been doing so just to be on the safe side.

Any help you can give will be appreciated--and thanks!
