My first whole30! Start: May 1st

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm a bit late at starting my log, but I didn't really think about doing one until I started reading through some, and thought it'd be a good idea!

I saw lots of Pinterest and instagrams posts about the whole30, and after checking into it, I thought it would be a great (but challenging) thing to attempt. I'm had bouts of trying to be "healthy", losing a few pounds and the getting bored and putting them back on. I am overweight; I'm 5'5" and at the beginning of this whole30 I weighed 248.5. I do have a family history of high blood pressure and diabetes, but I've never really had any issues with either. I just want to FEEL healthier, along with losing weight. In the week before I started my whole30...I actually ate badley on purpose, because I wanted to see what the affects here when I cut out all of the junk and sugar.

So im currently on day 9 of my whole30, and I'm actually kind of amazed at how I feel! Day 2 and 3 were the worst so far; I had a massive headache no matter how much water I drank, and then day 4, it was off like a light switch! I think those were my major "sugar detox" days. Just in these short 9 days I don't feel as groggy/foggy in the mornings, I'm definitely sleeping better, and my energy has skyrocketed, especially during my workouts. My hungar has changed also; I'm not craving snacks between meals, and my meals are keeping be fuller than an entire processed/junk meal would have. I have barely had any sugar cravings either! It feels so good to feel healthier!

Day 9:

M1: Egg casserole- shredded potatoes, spinach, onions, green pepper, eggs, and topped with bacon-, homemade ketchup, and a banana with a packet of almond butter

M2: Chicken salad- homemade mayo, white and green onion, celery- with cucumber slices, watermelon and a kombucha tea

M3: Taco salad- romaine lettuce, onion, taco seasoned ground turkey (homemade seasoning), guacamole, and homemade taco sauce for dressing.

Day 10 in the books, ⅓ of the way there! I had an awesome workout this morning! My energy feels so

Good! I'm so ready to tackle the rest of my 30 days :)

Today was basically the same as yesterday

Day 10:

M1: egg casserole

PoWO: pumpkin pie Lara bar- DELICIOUS!!

M2: Chicken salad with cucumbers and watermelon

Snack: Coconut cream pie Lara bar- i know, two in one day, but I running errands and starving!

M3: Taco salad

Most of my meals I prep for 2-3 days...So I have some repeative days. When I used to go on my "healthy" streaks, I would

Prep the same thing for an entire week...ugh, by that 4th day I couldn't stomach it anymore. Now my planning is so different!

I definitely struggled with my water intake today, and it made me feel super tired. I almost took a nap this afternoon, which I haven't done since before I started whole30. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Day11:

M1- two fried eggs cooked in ghee, an apple and a packet of almond butter

M2- chicken salad with cucumbers, couple pieces of dried mango, and a kombucha tea

M3: Cod lightly coated with almond/coconut flour pan-fried in coconut oil, and baked sweet potato fries

achievement of today: said no thank you to the delicious looking cookie-cake for my dad's birthday nothing....ohh I was tempted, but I prevailed!

Day 12 in the books! Not the greatest day, I woke up late for work, so I had a not-so-protein full breakfast. And then after work, I dosed off and woke up with a terrible stomach before my workout  :unsure:

 

Day 12:

M1: Banana with almond butter, and a chocolate coconut chew lara bar (literally in the car on the way to work)

 

S: Peach-Mango Coconut Water

 

M2: Egg salad with cucumber slices, guacamole, and some cashews

 

Pre-WO: Pumpkin pie lara bar 

 

M3: Cod lightly coated with almond/coconut flour pan-fried in coconut oil, and baked sweet potato fries

 

I finally bought a couple epic bars to try; a health food store in my town just started carrying them! They will come in handy this weekend, as I have a day trip. Hopefully all goes well!

Posting day 13 a day late! I was super busy yesterday...and I had an EPIC FAILURE! I put a pork roast in the crockpot before I went to work, and I was so excited to come home to some yummy pulled pork. However, when I got home...I FORGOT TO PLUG THE CROCKPOT IN!  :angry:  :angry:  :angry:  :angry:  :angry:  So I had to toss it all out. 

 

Day 13:

M1: Scrambled eggs (2 whites, 1 whole), white potato home fries, and a bacon&pork epic bar(My first epic bar! Not horrible, but it made me burp all morning  :lol: )

 

M2: Egg salad with cucumbers and guacamole, and a kombucha tea

 

M3: Taco seasoned shrimp and homemade cole slaw

Here's day 14 a day late too! I fell asleep early, so I didn't get to post...

 

Day 14:

M1: Homefries with onions, a fried egg, and some blackberries

 

M2: Mango and some cashews...at my nieces t-ball game, wasn't super hungry

 

M3: Pulled buffalo chicken with homemade coleslaw

Day 15! I'm so excited to be half way through my whole30! 

Today was a road trip to my sisters graduation in NH, so I had a big breakfast and packed a bunch of goodies for lunch, and stopped at Whole Foods (45 minutes from my house) on the way home. 

 

Day 15:

M1: Scrambled eggs (2whole, 2whites), home fries, and hannaford natural spinach and garlic chicken sausage, Compliant!

 

M2(spread out over a few hours): Epic Chicken sesame bbq, mango, cashews, and a coconut cashew lara bar 

 

Snack: A few plain cocktail shrimp at the graduation reception

 

M3: Pulled pork, guacamole, and roasted potatoes from Whole Foods hot food bars

 

 

I'm definitely thinking of extending my whole30 to a whole60! I really love the feeling of eating healthy, and I'm definitely feeling and seeing the results!

Day 16! Ive been telling a lot of people that I work with about the whole30, and how awesome of a change its been for me. I've actually been surprised at how easy the transition was. I've barely had any sugar cravings. The only thing I've been wanting really bad because everyone is drinking it around me is coffee...yummy chocolatey coffee. I attempted hot coffee with califa compliant creamer I found at whole foods, and it was very bland, like watered down. I want my mocha coffee!!! But I know I just want the ridiculous amounts of SUGAR that was in that flavored, creamed and sugared coffee. 

 

Day 16:

M1: Two fried eggs, and two hannaford spinach and garlic chicken sausage, homemade ketchup

 

M2: Compliant deli turkey (whole foods), guacamole, cucumbers and blackberries, and a lemonade kombucha

 

M3: Pulled buffalo chicken and homemade coleslaw

 

 

When I stopped at whole foods on sunday, I got a container of zoodles! I can't wait to try them in a couple of days! It so convenient to have them already cut up. I wish the whole foods in maine was closer to me!

Day 17 down! Not the greatest eating day, but I stayed on track!

Day 17:

M1: apple pie lara bar, banana

Post-WO: ½ small chicken breast, scoop of mashed sweet potatoes

M2: turkey slices (wasn't very hungry), Starbucks unsweetened passion iced tea

M3: pulled buffalo chicken and coleslaw

Day 18! Had an awesome workout today with my highest calorie burn of 574! I got to a fitness center that has circuit classes, and you wear a heart monitor throughout the workout to track you heart rate zones!

Day 18:

M1: scrambled eggs (1whole,2whites), and one spinach and garlic chicken sausage

Post-WO: ½ chicken breast and a scoop of mashed sweet potatoes

M2: Egg salad with a hand full of cold shrimp and some blackberries

M3: zoodles with turkey meatballs and homemade spaghetti meat sauce

I finished the night with a little ice hockey!

Day 19 was a toughy! After work, we had a house warming party at a co-workers new house...there were so many goodies! Chili and Brownies and chocolate covered rice crispies, and fried rice from my favorite chinese restaurant and alcohol! But I didn't even give a second look to ANYTHING....maybe a little peak! Look, no touchy!!!  :D  :lol:  :P

 

Day 19:

M1/Pre-WO: Two deviled eggs 

 

Post-WO: ½ chicken breast and mashed sweet potato

 

M2: Cucumber slices and some ground turkey

 

M3: Zucchini Noodles with turkey meatballs and homemade spaghetti meat sauce

Day 20! ⅔ of the way there! Yesterday was super busy at work! But I still managed to cook something healthy for dinner!

Day 20:

M1: scrambled eggs(1whole,3whites) and Home fries

M2: egg salad, cucumber slices, and some dried mango

Snack: coconut cream Lara bar (stayed late at work and was starving!)

M3: spaghetti squash with turkey meatballs and homemade spaghetti meat sauce

Day 21, three weeks!! I'm getting super ansy now that I'm down to single digits...I want to step on the scale soooooo bad! I know I've lost weight because my clothes are getting looser...but the confirmation of the number on the scale, I wanna see it! Almost there!

Day 21:

M1/pre-WO: two deviled eggs

Post-WO: pumpkin pie larabar

M2: chicken salad with onions and celery, and cucumber slices

M3: spaghetti squash with turkey meatballs and homemade spaghetti meat sauce

Stocked up on a ton of meat today! If you're a shaws (northeast) shopper lots of 88 cents a pound chicken and pork!!

Day 22 done! 8 more days to go! I've had a lot of compliments this week from people I work with and at my gym that I look great! It's nice to have the recognition from others that my physical changes are visible! It feels so good, and is really boosting my confidence!

This week in really trying to focus on my green veggies...I feel like I've been slacking big time on those the past couple of weeks

Day 22:

Pre-Wo: chocolate coconut chew Lara bar

M1: scrambled eggs(2whole) with onions and spinach, and 1 aidells chicken and apple sausage

M2: chicken salad with celery and onions on a garden salad with tessamaes Caesar dressing

M3: 2 pan fried chicken thighs cooked in ghee with carrots and broccoli, and some watermelon

Day 23 down, 1 week to go! Worked all day and ate pretty much the same as yesterday.

Day 23:

Pre-breakfast: pineapple Lara bar (had a dentist appointment and was too early to eat breakfast)

M1: scrambled eggs(2whole) with onions, green peppers and spinach, and 1 aidells chicken and apple sausage

M2: chicken salad with celery and onions on a garden salad with tessamaes Caesar dressing, a mango, and a kombucha

M3: 2 pan fried chicken thighs cooked in ghee with carrots and broccoli

Thank you MommaGem! I think its crazy that i'm almost done! Its flown by...I remember when i first started, i was scared at how hard it was going to be, but honestly, its been a breeze! Im definitely going to keep going! 

 

Day 24 complete!

 

Day 24: 

 

M1: scrambled eggs (1whole,2whites) with onions, green peppers and spinach and 1 aidells chicken and apple sausage

 

M2: Buffalo Chicken salad with celery and onions

 

M3: Sweet potato chips topped with taco-seasoned ground turkey, onions and guacamole

Day 25...5 MORE DAYS! it's getting so close. I was looking at myself in the mirror today, and I definitely am starting to See some changes! My energy was awesome today...I went to my power class, with for a almost 3 mile jog/run, and played hockey tonight! Phewwww...I'm tired!

Day 25:

M1: scrambled eggs with spinach, onion and green pepper and an aidells chicken and apple sausage

Post-WO: baked chicken, and dried tangerines

M2: buffalo chicken salad over a garden salad with tessamaes southwest ranch

M3: sweet potato chips topped with taco-seasoned ground turkey, onions and guacamole

Day 26 was tough..I definitely over did it yesterday, and my whole body felt it, especially my legs. I barely made it through my workout tonight!

Day 26:

M1: scrambled eggs and compliment bacon, banana and almond butter

Snack: freeze dried apples

M2: buffalo chicken salad over a garden salad with tessamaes ranch

M3: sweet potato chips topped with taco-seasoned ground turkey, onions and guacamole

Thank you Dcpink! I know, I wish I would have started mine earlier too...glad to hear we are both making awesome healthy changes in our lives! 

 

Day 27...had a long stressful day at work, and definitely was feeling the effects! I had two snacks today, which usually I don't do, but I think it was a little more stress eating...at least they were healthy!

 I cancelled my workout class this morning and I'm off to the beach because it's supposed to be 90 today! I need a relaxing morning after a long stressful few days. Three more days till I can step on the scale! 

 

Day 27: 

M1: scrambled eggs with peppers and onions, and compliment bacon

 

M2: taco seasoned ground turkey on a garden salad with tessamaes southwest ranch

 

Snack: dried apple chips

 

M3: sweet potato chips with taco  seasoned ground turkey and onions  and guacamole

 

Snack: banana with almond butter

a little late for Day 28! Sitting on the beach relaxing was just what I needed! 

 

Day 28:

M1:scrambled eggs and compliment bacon

 

M2: Buffalo Chicken salad over a garden salad with tessamaes southwest ranch (seriously has become my FAVORITE!!)

 

M3: cooked shrimp in taco sauce with home fries (literally had nothing cooked!)

woo-hoo! day 29 is done! Heres my log real quick, and then my day 3 post!

 

Day 29:

 

Breakfast/Pre-WO: Two deviled eggs

 

Post-WO: Coconut cream pie larabar

 

M2: Buffalo Chicken Salad over a garden salad with tessamaes southwest ranch (I need to order more!!!)

 

Snack: Dried Apples

 

M3: Pan-fried chicken thigh in ghee, with buffalo cauliflower cakes (recipe on tessamaes website, so cool!)

I'm officially on day 30! It's crazy how fast the month has gone by! And I've said this before, but I can't believe how easy its been for me to make this change. Once I cleaned out my kitchen and did the initial shopping for kitchen staples, I knew I was committed! And I succeeded! 

 

and for my results....stepped on the scale this morning....20 POUNDS DOWN!!!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! I knew I felt lighter, and my clothes are definitely a little looser, but I didn't think I dropped a whole 20lbs! I know the number on the scale is not as important than how I feel, but seeing the number definitely validates the success I feel inside! 

 

And I am definitely not stopping here! I'm going to keep going for a a whole60!
