Hi Everyone,

I am a few days into my first W30 and enjoying it!

I have searched and searched the forums and am confused about the Lara Bar situation. I know I am only a few days into the plan but I have been following the rules explicitly and will continue to as I want get the full benefits from the program. I have noticed tha Lara Bars are "approved" but not as a desert etc...I am quite hungry still after breakfast most days, am I allowed to have the bar as a mid morning snack most days or should I start eating nuts etc as the snack. I am a bit confused!

Thanks for reading!

Nope... no bars unless you have an emergency... such as being stuck in a plane on the tarmac in a blizzard for hours... being hungry after breakfast is not an emergency and is actually quite solvable by eating more at breakfast... you should not be 'quite hungry still after breakfast'.

What are you eating for breakfast?

Nuts should not be eaten on their own as they are gut disruptive, often food without brakes and poorly omega balanced. We don't really want you snacking at all... we want you to make your meals last 4-5 hours, so post what you've been eating and let us help you make that a reality...

DH and I are doing a Whole30 together. He works 12-hour shifts as an RN which usually turn into 13+ hours, plus he has an hour commute each way. He sometimes doesn't get lunch until late in the afternoon (if at all). Would Lara Bars be good for him to carry? He used to take cheese sticks and nuts to work for his snacks. He is over age 60 and really needs some extra energy to get through the day.

@ander217 - the fact that he knows he has long shifts mean that he is not having emergencies. And the only time it is alright to use any type of bar is in the event of an emergency. He needs to pack enough food so that he can eat every 4-5 hours. Hard boiled eggs, compliant jerky, tinned/pouched fishes, olives are all suitable choices to replace a larabar if needed. The best replacement for a larabar is a meal that has protein, fat and vegetables.
