Successful Whole30 - But I want to keep going ...

So I am actually a little late in posting, as today is actually my day 39.  I completed my first whole 30 and overall I think it went well.  I went to the Dr a few days ago to have blood work as well as to weigh myself. I lost 14 lbs, which I am thrilled about.  I still have much more weight to lose, though I know we are not to focus on those things. I am hoping by continuing to follow the program, I will continue to feel better and that the weight will just come along as it should.

I have mostly good days now, but there are the occasional bad ones still. Not because of anything in particular, but my brain says hey I want to eat that, and boy that looks really good. But when I stop and ask myself if I am hungry and to I really want it, I realize no, I am not usually hungry and it is more of a mental thing.  So obviously I am still training my dragons to stay away and let me be the best me I can be!  I have found I am getting better at planning, I just have to make sure that I am not lazy.  This will be my downfall. It is easy to say oh, I'll figure it out, but that is tougher to do when you are not at home.

So, today I had to be at work extra early, so I brought a few hard boiled eggs, some baby carrots, and green beans, so that was my breakfast.  My lunch will be a romaine lettuce salad, with baby sweet peppers, cucumbers, radishes, and green beans along with a small portion of steak.  Let's see how things go!

Day 41 is here ... feeling pretty good today.  I have figured out that when it is the beginning of my cycle, I don't feel so well and I really struggle with cravings and emotions. I was hoping the change in my foods would help with that, but apparently not so much!  Still cry at the drop of a hat, have swollen and painful breasts (though now worse than before), and the cravings are strong ... oh and did I tell you that my face broke out again too!, but I have been able to work through them.  No cheating ... so I feel good about that.  Kind of funny, not only did I have a hysterectomy in 2014 though I still have my ovaries, I was hoping that this way of eating would help me with my hormones ... not sure that is happening, but otherwise I am doing really well!

Feel more clear, not tons of energy but some ... so looking at all the positives!

Came to visit my grandson today, who is currently napping.  So love to see him!  Brought a packed lunch to make sure I stay on track.  you have no idea how much planning and effort for me that part is, but I am finding It has not really become a habit yet, but it is much easier. And doing this makes It seem much easier for sure!!!!

have a great day ... if anyone is reading this.  :)

Congrats on finishing your Whole30!

Cravings in the week or so leading up to your period (or when it would be, since you've had a hysterectomy) is actually normal -- you may benefit from eating more in general during that time, and more starchy vegetable in particular.

I'd also say the two meals you've listed above, "a few hard boiled eggs, some baby carrots, and green beans," and "romaine lettuce salad, with baby sweet peppers, cucumbers, radishes, and green beans along with a small portion of steak," both look pretty light, and neither list added fat. Don't be afraid to have fat -- add some mayo or avocado or olives to those meals, and make sure you're eating 1-3 cups of vegetables at each meal, more if most of your vegetables are raw leafy greens, as they break down to almost nothing as you eat and tend not to keep you satiated for very long.

I'm going to move this to the Your Post-Whole30 log section, as it seems more like a log, and the Off track/Staying on track section is usually more for specific questions.
