Still Egg-Free Post-Whole30

Today is Day 30, and I don't want to go completely hog wild on my first day post-Whole30, so I'm starting this thread.

I'm interested to see the reintroduction plan and how my body reacts to certain foods, but eggs are still not part of the equation. I'm also supposed to be reducing a whole bunch of foods to no more than once a week - pretty much all nuts except pecans and macadamias, bananas, carrots, chicken, coconut, honey, black pepper, and tomato, to name a few. Coconut, tomatoes and nuts are going to be really challenging, especially since so many W30 recipes call for them in some form or another.

My doctor ordered a comprehensive food panel for me in August, and I tested sensitive to 40 of the 90 foods they tested. I got my results right before I started my W30, so I eliminated foods that ranked a 2 or 3 for sensitivity - eggs, almonds, and yeast were the big ones. Then, I saw my doctor last week and she said I needed to limit the 1s to once a week. That's where I got the list above (pretty much all nuts except pecans and macadamias, bananas, carrots, chicken, coconut, honey, black pepper, and tomato). I'm really reluctant to get rid of tomato, less for the actual tomatoes than tomato puree, paste, sauce that goes in so many Paleo recipes I like.

The combo of whole 30 and food elimination is working, though. I stepped on the scale this morning - down 13 pounds and almost 3% body fat since I began my W30 :D

I'm at the lowest weight I've been for almost 7 years. I got close to this 2 years ago - that point where I can see tremendous loss in my legs and hips, and I know it's going to come off my midsection and arms next, but I couldn't get any lower. Well, W30 and food elimination has given me brand new hope!! I'm going away for the weekend and have a few things going on next week where I'll be off plan, but after that, I'm hoping to stick with it through Thanksgiving and see the "magic" happen!

I've been pretty well off-plan since last Friday and have events tonight and tomorrow that will keep me off-plan, but I'm going back to W30 on Monday.

As if I needed any evidence that this works, but....I successfully fought off two colds while on the W30. Six days off and I'm totally getting sick. I just got my back adjusted by my chiropractor and picked up a supplement (Congaplex) to help fight off the cold. Granted, I've been totally burning the candle at both ends this fall (tough workouts in the early am, back to teaching all day, officiating FH in the afternoons/evenings). But I'm taking Monday off from school to get a better handle on sleep/health/diet/life.

While I didn't have the time to do the full reintroduction schedule, I got a pretty good taste of how lousy my body feels off plan.

This summer I did 18 days of W30 followed by 2+ weeks of "normal" eating while training for a triathlon. I lost between 7-10 pounds, but couldn't feel the difference, especially in my midsection where my stomach felt distended most of the summer. My doctor thought it was GERD and gave me a prescription, which alleviated some symptoms but did nothing for my stomach distention.

On my W30, I didn't even realize that my distention disappeared. In one week off plan, though, it came right back.

So, I'm pretty much going back on W30 until Thanksgiving, which should give me time for reintroduction. I'm logging here instead of on the W30 forum, though, because my doctor wants me to ease up on some of the rules in order to test some of my food sensitivities.

Back on track and hoping the change of diet will help me fight off this cold! I'm playing with W30 rules and my food sensitivities - opting for peanut butter (all natural, sugar free) in place of other nut butters b/c only pecans, macadamia nuts and peanuts didn't register on my food panel.

Day 1 Log:

Breakfast - Butternut Squash Porridge (dried cherries, hemp milk, pecans), Spinach Salad w Raspberries, Applegate Turkey Sausage

Lunch - Applegate Hot Dogs

Snack - Dates, Peanut Butter

Dinner - Pork Chops w/ Sauerkraut, Apples & Onions

I'm officially trying to drown this cold! I've had 120+ ounces of water today, plus handfuls of Congaplex. I will not surrender.

I also discovered a post on Pinterest for a month's worth of W30 meals, most of which can be cooked ahead of time and frozen. Next time I have a full weekend off, I'm all over this!

Day 2 Log:

Breakfast - Butternut Squash w Dried Cherries, Applegate Breakfast Sausage, Spinach Salad w Dates & Pepitas

Lunch - Pork Chop w Sauerkraut, Apples & Onion

Dinner - Crock Pot Beef Bourgignon w Cauliflower "Rice"

I think I have two students (guys - football linemen, even!) who are going to jump on the W30 bandwagon with me! How much fun will that be?!?

Day 5 Log:

Breakfast - 3 Applegate Hot Dogs, Butternut Squash & Cherry Sauté, Orange Juice (I know - no juice! But I need an extra boost of Vitamin C to help kill this cold)

Lunch - Beef Bourgignon w Cauliflower Rice, Pear

Dinner - Zucchini Pasta w Red Pepper Tapenade & Chicken, Spinach Salad w Dates

I went off plan last night, but it was eating dirty that M&D would've been proud of - it was a special occasion (my sister unexpectedly came into town) and we ate at a restaurant where one of my former students is the new head chef. And I'm back on track today :)

Day 6 Log:

Breakfast - 2 Applegate Hot Dogs, Butternut Squash & Cherry Sauté

Lunch/Pre-Game Meal - Strawberry-Cilantro Green Smoothie

Dinner - Sautéed Brussel Sprouts (amazing!), nice glass of Malbec, shared two entrees - Bacon Wrapped Filet and Pan-Seared Duck Breast - both with spinach and mashed potato, Creme Brûlée
