AngelEyz
Hi all, I'm going to be attending an annual Greek Festival this weekend, and I'm running through the food items trying to figure out what I can eat. Fried calamari? nope. Haloumi cheese? nope. Baklava or the yummy honey donuts? heck to the no. Gyros? Maybe without the pita, but who knows. Help me... does anyone out there have any ideas? jmcbn
I'd ask about the gyros - there could be some off plan ingredients in the seasoning... I'm not sure how 'tradtional' the food will be, but things like souvlaki (pork kebabs), kokoretsi (organ meat), roasted lamb, grilled octopus, cuttlefish stew, rabbit stew, plain grilled pork chops & burger patties should be okay. Then you've salads without feta, fried veg (so long as there's no batter), olives, eggplant salad... Note: In Greece they rarely use anything except olive oil - outside of Greece I'd always ask. AngelEyz
Thanks, it will be fairly traditional, and some of those options will be available. I'll definitely ask about the oil and the seasonings.
