GGof4
Does anyone have advice for heartburn?
Karen_Suep
A shot of Apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, some baking soda in water. It depends on what is causing the heartburn (often it's either lack of stomach acid or too much stomach acid)
Kaelisan
I cut out onions and garlic, and mine is gone.
whatmeworry
I had problems with avocados and any overdoing on eggs - and tea of any kind. See if you can figure out what sets it off. Generally eat a bit lighter if you are not young and super active.
augyz
Not sure what was causing my heartburn, but I had it almost everyday for 20 years. Literally stopped on my 1st day of Whole 30. I was shocked. Have not had an incident in over 35 days.
praxisproject
Recent studies on GERD have shown it is caused by inflammation rather than stomach acid. Whole30 will generally reduce inflammation, but there are things like infections and medical conditions which can have increased inflammation. khillmiller
As a yoga instructor, I try to do viparita karani (legs-up-the wall pose) to aid with digestion when I can. YOu can google it. Its is a great non-pharmaceutical, relaxation approach if you have the time and space to do it for 5 minutes. A friend of mine swears by a half stalk of cold fresh celery. It has worked remarkably well when I"ve tried it. Just an FYI, I will be starting my whole 30 over tomorrow, because I just realized that the Gaviscon I take every couple of days for heartburn has "compressed sugar" as one of the "inactive ingredients." Grrrr! Will take a Tagamet from now on.
