JulieReeves3
I am a yoyo dieter, have a love hate relationship with food..meaning I love food but I'm not so sure it loves me. I was diagnosed with crohns disease two years ago and have discovered that a lot of flares are triggered by consistent bad food choices..to much red meat, fried foods, processed food. Anyway, I am hoping whole 30 will teach me to have a good relationship with food and what it takes to be healthy. I am a Mom of three boys. We are military and since being restationed 3 yrs ago I now stay home full time....which means more time to sit and eat! I would love a few buddies to share this 30 day experience with. Day 1 was pretty easy for me..but I'm expecting for it to get a lot harder with birthdays, graduations and bbqs to tempt me. Tell me your story! Lorraine16
Hi Julie! I am also starting Whole30 as of June 1! I already knew I needed to modify my diet because of an autoimmune disease (hashimoto's thyroiditis) and had already cut out (cow) dairy, beans, grains ... but went off the rails around Thanksgiving - Christmas 2015 so needed to get back on track! I admitted to myself that I have a major sugar addiction and know now that anything sweet is a "no brakes" food for me. I thought a "reboot" with Whole30 would do me good! The things I already miss are stevia in my tea and a glass of red wine =). Looking for another kind of sweetener to put in hot green tea and iced tea ... Anaiskv
Hi! I started my Whole30 on June 1 also! I have been struggling with depression for several years now, and I take medication, but I know that a healthier lifestyle would make things much better. So here I am! I'm home with kids all day as well, so I understand the struggle there. Today I had to make peanut butter/jelly sandwiches for the kids' lunch and I swear I nearly had my face in the jar! But I feel great today, overall. Best of luck to you! I look forward to hearing about your progress
daluzzi
I started on May 30.... Too many aches and pains. Trying to get rid of a chronic cough. My acupuncture doctor suggested this. Day 7 and doing good. My main problem is i live in a small town. I made the trip to Whole Foods on Friday and it took me 1 1/2 hours to get there in 100' heat. i never even saw the meat counter. I just saw so many aisles that i couldn't shop on.
redwards35
Julie - hopefully by note you have figured out that crohns disease is not triggered by food and this diet is not a cure. Please do not lool for false hopes of a cure for crohns in this or any other diet. I was diagnosed with crohns disease at the age of 12 back in 1998. After 18 years of the disease, one surgery, multiple flair ups, and tons of medicine i can tell you this is a desease. Its not a upset stomach after a cheeseburger. With that said you can manage your symptoms WHEN IN REMISSION. If youre having a flair or have a fistula, meds are the only course. Please dont listen to the bloggers on here that will try and tell you differently. Stress is a trigger of mine, along with red meat, dairy, spices and alcohol (mostly beers). I used to think i could managw it with food and diet. And it worked, for about 17 years. Then, while only eating organic, no red meat, and a paelo version i had the worst flaire of my life and had to have a foot of my terminal illium removed. It strated in Nov of 2015 and three medicsl proceedures, months of recovery and a ostomy bag later im finally fully recovered. Please dont make the same mistake. Question your doctors, get a second opinion, but theyre DOCTORS people on here are bloggers who love the diet. Doing whole30 might help, but dont stop medication or you'll end up on a surgical table. Attached the pic of my 15 staples and ostomy hole. Please be smart about your DISEASE. Best of luck
