Starting Whole30...Again 6/11/16

Hello All!

I've been trying to get back on track for a few months now. I have been grieving the death of my brother :( and have gained 10 lbs in 2 months.  I just can't seem to stick with it for more than a few days.

I know how wonderful Whole30 is...I've been living it for about 2 years. I feel so guilty for allowing myself to get to where I am again.

Any tips of getting and staying focused?

Thanks!

I'm sorry for your loss, I cannot even imagine how hard it would be to lose a sibling.

Right now, if you can't commit to a Whole30, don't worry about it. You're going through a lot, and it's normal to have good days and bad days. Don't beat yourself up about this -- changing the way you eat and the way you think about food is a process that takes more than 30 days for a lot of us. Throw in stress and grief, things that typically make people crave unhealthy foods, and it's going to be that much harder.

For now, just focus on each meal. Make the healthiest choices you can. If you make an unhealthy choice at one meal, just move on, don't dwell on it or feel guilty about it, just do better next time.

JNinaJ,

you must be hurting a lot these days.

I echo what Shannon said about not feeling guilty or dwelling on unhealthy choices.

Like when we fall off a bicycle: get back up and pedal on.

I hope you are able to find help through family and friends and any grief support groups or counselors in your area.

I attended support groups after each of my parents died and it was very helpful.

Hugs and prayers for your comfort.
