unicorny
Heya folks, I've decided to start the Whole30 today. I just heard about the program yesterday from my Doctor and I'm really excited to try it out! I probably should take a few days to prep but I'd like to finish the program before a vacation that I have planned in July so... Giving it the good ol' college try. My doctor recommended the Whole30 because I've been sick with 4 different respiratory illnesses in the past 6 months. I'm currently recovering from pneumonia. I also have ulcerative colitis which is currently thankfully in remission. She thinks my immune system must not be in very good shape right now and that following the Whole30 program will be a good way for me to eliminate inflammatory foods from my diet so my immune system can get back on track. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time and pretty motivated at this point to try anything. Mu biggest concern is ... What do I eat for breakfast? I've eaten oatmeal every day for breakfast for years. Today I'm planning to eat a boiled egg and a banana but I'd love to eat other suggestions. jmcbn
Hey there & welcome A boiled egg and a banana isn't really going to cut it for breakfast. You'll be chewing your elbow come mid-morning and you'll hate it.Are you familiar with the recommended food template? Take a look >here< and build each of your meals to meet this template, three times a day, around 4-5hrs aprt, the first within an hour of wakening and you won't go far wrong. You might also want to look at some of the other available downloads on sneaky sugars, additives etc just to keep you on the straight & narrow...As for what to eat for breakfast? The best way is to stop thinking in terms of breakfast, lunch & dinner, and to start thinking in terms of meals one, two & three. Whatever you would normally eat for 'dinner' you can eat for any meal - burgers, steak, omelette, salad, curry, chicken casserole.... It can be daunting at first so maybe start off with bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms & avocado and then gradually move away from the more traditional 'breakfast' foods and into full blown W30 territory... If you google 'Whole30 Breakfasts' and 'Whole30 non egg breakfasts' you should come up with dozens of links to previous threads on the same subject. What's you game plan for the rest of the day? OncoWarrior
Hi unicorny, Welcome! You asked about breakfast. Heya folks,Mu biggest concern is ... What do I eat for breakfast? I've eaten oatmeal every day for breakfast for years. Today I'm planning to eat a boiled egg and a banana but I'd love to eat other suggestions. My guess is that you do not have a lot of time in the morning? because you said boiled egg and banana. You need more food than that, as the moderator said. I have been very happy with soup. The nice thing is that in the morning you just heat up as much as you need. It is fun to experiment with different combinations of veggies and meat and seasonings. I like to make it thick, almost like stew. Sometimes I poach an egg and put it in the bottom of the bowl. Yumm. Another thing I do is always cook extra veggies so that I have them available. That way it is easy to make an omelette using the leftovers. Good luck.
