amess1015
Wondering if anyone has any advice, I have not been feeling well and I am on Day 11. Really haven't been feeling well since the beginning. I will give you a run down of whats been going on. First week, I was low energy and getting used to eating three meals per day instead of 6. I get sugar spikes up and down between meals usually and get hangry if I don't stick to a schedule. It was a big adjustment, but after about a week I have been feeling good between meals, no real problem with energy. I normally have some type of eggs (a slice of quiche with a sweet potato crust or frittata both with veggies baked inside - kale, broccoli, zucchini, mushroom, onion or a mixture) for breakfast and along with that have a serving of fruit, usually berries or a plum. I have also been adding a boiled egg or half a aidells sausage on the side because I've noticed if I don't I get hungry too soon. Lunch, I normally have leftovers from the night before which is a nice sized serving of protein and a helping or two of veggies. Occasionally I have some leftover roasted potatoes as well. Dinner is similar to lunch, but I usually have some type of potato or zucchini noodles, cauliflower rice, etc. I usually cook with ghee or coconut oil for all meals and lunch I normally have guacamole or avocado mixed in. I am having a good amount of healthy fats for sure. Only place I think I might be lacking is water intake. I'd say I have about 5 glasses per day, normally drink more but I hardly ever want water on this diet. Been having some lacroix most nights. First week I was trying to figure out the best portions for meals so I didn't eat snacks. I have really noticed I don't have a lot of energy ups and downs. My appetite went way down after about 5 days and that part is all good. I have been tracking my meals on myfitnesspal to get a better idea of ratios and calories. Now the bad parts, I have been having nightmares most nights. I had those junk food nightmares around day 7-10 but before that was having other nightmares and the strong dreams and nightmares have continued. It causes me to wake up more than I should and I feel pretty restless when I sleep. I have had chronic neck/shoulder pain for a long time, was hoping this would help with it. I have had bad back pain near my shoulder blade on one side that gets worse towards the evening every day. My neck has been hurting almost every day. Before I started I hadn't been having much neck pain... It just keeps continuing. My bowels slowed down a lot for the first week and a half and are finally starting to go back to normal. Yesterday, I felt dizzy most of the day. Felt a little better after lunch. I ate a big breakfast and I take a prenatal, so I don't think it has anything to do with sugar levels or iron. I have been feeling agitated a lot ever since I started, I thought it would go away after awhile. Whats going on?? Am I still adjusting or am I doing something wrong? When will I start to feel better? One other benefit I've seen is I had a breakout before I started and that has all cleared up and I am feeling skinnier, otherwise feeling pretty pained and not great. Thanks! Administrators ladyshanny Posted June 20, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 20, 2016 Are you pregnant re: your prenatal reference? If you are, our standard 3 meals, no snacking advice does not apply to you. You should be eating 3 meals per day but then eating in between if needed, preferrably a protein/fat combo (hard boiled egg, guac or chicken and mayo as examples). It's not a ticket to graze all day, by any means. Whole30 is a hormonal adjustment and if you are pregnant and undertaking this at the same time, depending on how pregnant you are, you could be experiencing a compounding of pregnancy related nightmares/achiness along with what could be considered normal with Whole30. amess1015
Hi ladyshanny, no I am not currently pregnant. I've had a lot of fertility issues and lots of tests with little answers so am trying whole 30 to see if it helps my chances, hence why I am taking a prenatal. I also know I have the MTHFR gene mutation so I need the special folate. I was reading today about how low blood sugar at night could be contributing to my nightmares, so I might try having some type of compliant carb close to bedtime. Unfortunately still having dizziness on and off
Administrators ladyshanny Posted June 21, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 21, 2016 Can you list out some typical meals including your portions of each item as they relate to the meal template? (eg, how many palms of protein, how much veggies/what types, how much fat/what types). If you are experiencing dizziness it could be related to under-eating. Are you exercising? If so, what are you doing, how long, are you eating pre and post workout meals? You should be aiming for half an ounce per pound of bodyweight in water. So if you were 180#, you would drink at least 90oz of water each day. Are you salting your food?
