heymanrn
I am a night shift nurse and I am having a hard time figuring out what to eat while I am working. If I work during the week I have to stay up all day with my children (unless the baby takes a nap) so I tend to not want to eat because I am exhausted. Should I just pack some veggies and munch on them when I can?
QuilterInVA
You need to follow the meal template. You could have 4meals on the day you work.
NoMoreCrunchyCravings
I work day shift normally, but worked nights the month of June. I just packed my meals the same I did for days-- ate a template meal of eggs and veggies with olives or avocado more frequently before I went to work in the evenings, then had a second dinner around 10pm or midnight of protein and veggies and fat. Made sure to drink lots of fluids all night long. Then around 4-5am, I ate another template meal of more protein and veggies and a fat. Went home and to sleep for a few hours, then did it all over again. If you are going home and taking care of the baby and other kids, when do you sleep? Don't worry about eating another meal or a mini-meal based on the template if you're staying up most of the day. Though if you're eating it because you're exhausted and needing to munch to stay awake, that's the wrong thing to do-- in that case, you need to just take your body's cues and sleep! Do you have a partner or friend watch the kids who can mind the baby for awhile to allow you to sleep a bit?
ERD2481
Hello, fellow night shift RN here. How has Whole 30 gone? I have done one in the past, but was working during the day. Going to plan some meals, hopefully it won't be too bad!
