I've decided that my start day will be July 7th I hope to stay on track by I live in a house with two people, my parents who have no desire to start this program with me. They also have no intention of being helpful by putting the snacks away so they're not in my face everyday. Does anyone have advice on how to share space with people who already think you're going to fail and have no desire to help you succeed?

I'm starting July 7th as well! I feel your pain about being in the house with others who do not care to go on a diet. My husband is not very supportive of this because he thinks this is one of those fad diets I keep starting and not finishing. Let's do this thing together so I can throw it in his face! lol

I'm also starting July 7th! I just moved house so I start with an empty fridge and cupboards I've been filling properly since the weekend. My boyfriend started yesterday and I convinced my ex (with whom I'm still friends) to start as well next week. Unfortunately the friend I'm living with won't commit as well, so I'll be sharing a fridge with someone who believes ordering through Seamless is equivalent to cooking. :-(

Let's do this, July 7th Club!

Hello "July 7th Club"!! I'm lucky enough to live with my husband, who does not cook, therefore has little say in what we'll eat over the next 30 days (unless he orders out!). I'm embarking on this journey (and dragging him with me) because we both suffer from allergies to certain food groups and this is a perfect opportunity for us to figure out which ones! My mom, like your parents,  roommate, and husband, shot me down when I simply mentioned my plan.....she didn't actually hear the part where I said, "it's not just about my weight! It's about my health." Oh well! If we stick together and encourage one another we'll all be healthier and happier on August 8th and beyond.

Have you all purchased any of the books? Maybe I'm overlooking something on the website, but is there an overall guide/calendar?

Please follow me on Instagram to keep me encouraged and I'll do the same: wrightfitdan

Hi all,

I woke up to my alarm today, pushed snooze, and in the 10 minutes of extra sleep had a nightmare that I was eating chocolate swiss rolls and thought I ruined my diet before it started! Anyway, so far so good. For breakfast at 6:00am I had 3 eggs, a handful of sugar snap peas, handful of blueberries and black coffee. It was surprisingly filling even though it didn't look like much on the plate. I had a mini meal at 11:00 of 2 hard boiled eggs and handful of baby carrots. For lunch I will be having a stuffed bellpepper and cabbage sauteed in coconut oil. Don't yet have a plan for dinner. I'm a little worried about the sugar hangovers/headaches I was reading about so hopefully it won't be too bad. Good luck to everyone who stated today and let me know how your first day is going so far.

Today isn't too bad in terms of cravings -- I'm lucky that I don't have a sweet tooth. Portion control is/has always been my issue.

Breakfast was a cup of tea with W30-compliant almond milk, 2 hardboiled eggs with pink Himalaya salt and pepper, with a banana at about noon to tide me over since I was away from my desk where lunch was stashed. Lunch was another 3 eggs and some blueberries. Dinner will be some roasted asparagus and chicken breast with lots of garlic. I'll use EVOO for roasting, along with spices and herbs from the pantry.

I took some pics of myself today to get a baseline for where I'm starting from. I'm still pretty excited about all of this. Hope everyone else is having a good first day!

Hey all!!

Today was a calm day - as expected! Maybe I should have given hubby more of a heads up - he was on his way to the store for bourbon when I had to tell him alcohol was out for 30 days  (I'm mean, I know!) He thre.w his hands up and asked, "WAIT! Did I sign a contract for this?!" But the lemon garlic broccoli with half a yam and chicken went over very well.....for today!

Hope you all had a great Day 1.

Dinner yesterday was good. Had baked tilapia, sweet potatoes with sprinkle of almonds, broccoli, and jicama. I gave in to a snack of strawberries and cherries about an hour after dinner. I woke up with my stomach feeling acidic so for breakfast had some unsweetened grapefruit juice, 2 hard-boiled eggs, baby carrots a banana and blueberries. On the menu for lunch today is left over tilapia, sweet potato, broccoli and some green olives. It's only 10:30 here and I am already hungry! I am finding that eating slowly is a big change for me. I have 4 kids, the youngest is 3 months, and I always try to eat fast because if I don't eat my food quickly, I might not get another chance to. I had a stomach ache about an hour after lunch yesterday and I have a bit of a headache today but nothing too extreme. I'm going to try and find a scale to weigh myself to get a benchmark of where I am starting from (I usually avoid scales like the plague).

Last night's dinner was great -- I decided against the asparagus and went for spinach and sliced zucchini. I have leftover chicken for lunch today -- can't wait! This morning was a rush so I grabbed a banana and a small Ziploc bag of grapes to eat on the way to work. Tonight is a little up in the air -- I will probably make some green turkey chili (no beans). I discovered my existing green chili recipe was already Whole 30 compliant, and it's my boyfriend's favourite so it's a no-brainer.

I had the weirdest dreams though last night, and this morning I feel like I'm in a mental fog. I'm having a big iced coffee (black) right now trying to wake up. I didn't have any gastric issues but I felt a lot sweatier than normal.

Keep it up, everyone!

Happy First Whole30 Weekend!!!! I was SO tired this morning that I could barely peel myself from the bed! I'm not sure this is a symptom of the Whole30 though, I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so it may just be me, being me!

I'd like to give y'all some encouragement! My husband had a conference to attend today so I reminded him of the effort we're making to learn our bodies better so we can live a healthier life. I suggested, "Just eat the meat! Oh man, there's probably going to be all sorts of sauces on stuff.....find a dry piece of chicken! Veggies if they have them. Ugh, FaceTime me if you need help!"  He looked at me like I'd lost my mind.

Well! He called after lunch to chat and I asked about his meal......he stuck to the programmmmmm! Two hamburger patties (no bread, no dressing) and a salad! Go hubby!!!! NOW I have no choice but to stick it out!

I'm marinating a steak for dinner! My first time cooking steak in YEARS. Since he's always asking for it, I figure he deserves it tonight.

Hope you're all off to a good start this weekend!!

Danielle

Hi all

I started on the 7th as well and 'd love to join you on your timeline. This is my first whole 3 and I'm looking to beat those sugar demons, as I'm pretty addicted to all those sweet, high carb treat. Years of white-knuckling it on healthy food in between blow outs and now trying this.

I relate to all your posts about others in your life thinking you're on yet another diet.  Day one was surprisingly straightforward.  Day two had a headache as prescribed, day 3 a few thoughts about what others were eating, day 4 a 3-hour cookathon so I'm all set for the week and day 5 so far so good.

Really hope everyone is doing well with this.  I'm just a bit concerned about losing any weight with all the food and fat?  I'm excited if it does though as I've not been craving or too hungry (except after workouts).

The weekend was a success! We went out to eat with my in-laws and I was a little nervous they wouldn't have anything totally compliant but I found a fajita salad that was delicious! I woke up this morning in a fog with a headache but it subsided after a couple of hours. I don't feel any different yet. I did start eating 1/2 avocado with every meal. I wanted to weigh myself to see if anythings happening but I will wait until its been 1 week.

Hi all! I started July 8. This is also my first whole 30. My partner is willing to make "partial modifications" but our fridge still has cheese, beer ....cheese, beer.... haha! I've done really well so far, I have definitely had my moody moments. Before starting whole 30, I ate pretty healthy other than excess cheese and I would drink beer on a daily basis. I've told myself I'll cut back on drinking for a long time, but I've never managed to just DO it. I was going to start my whole 30 cold turkey around the end of June. I did some research and read alot of blogs and the advice of others. I slowly started cutting out soda at work, crackers, cheese. The one thing I was concerned about was the drinking - but I have done it. I haven't had a beer since the day before I started. I had a hard time the first day, especially in the evening when I would typically enjoy a few beers. The second day was harder, but the 3rd much easier. Today is day 4 for me. I'm strong and I"m not going to cheat. It isn't easy though. I'm looking forward to the support of this forum.

My instagram is bkitto. I see some of you have listed your accounts. I'll find you. :) I've been posting some meals and the support I've gotten is so encouraging.

Hey Friends!!

So glad to hear you're all doing well so far!! I'm here on this forum at this very moment because even after an AMAZING dinner of steak (Asian Vinaigrette marinate for 24hrs!! SOOOO TENDER!), broccoli and carrots, and pineapples as a "treat", I AM FREAKING OUT. Only exaggerating slightly here. I am craving something, ANYTHING not on the program  ! I'll get through it, by going to sleep! lol

DON'T WEIGH YOURSELVES!! Let's try to stay with the suggestion of waiting until the end of the 30 days. We can do it!! I'll say that I've already begun noticing a very tiny difference in my waistline (I know this because I wear belly jewelry that is fitting differently today) and I know you'll all feel a difference too! Stick it out!

Also, Julian (husband) is already feeling that his asthma is getting more manageable and neither of us have needed to take allergy meds since Day 2!

Be encouraged and have an amazing week.

(P.S. If you watch TV, mute the commercials! Junk food ads are killing me!)

Here comes day.  Feeling tired last night but sleeping well and super-awake at 5am!  Thanks for the reminder about the food porn adverts.  For breakfast I've just had Whole30 salmon fish cakes, salsa, 1/2 avocado and lettuce.  Salsa for breakfast certainly fires up the mouth.

It's great that everyone is going through the same thing and we're not bombarded with recipes for how to recreate your favourite thing with sweeteners etc etc.  So far I'm amazed that I haven't mourned my usual breakfast of oats and yogurt.

Stay strong July 7th (and 8th) club and have a great day!

How is everyone doing?  It's day 8 and hard to believe I've been over 1 week without caving into a craving.  The sugar frenzy backed off almost straight away and is only grumbling in the distance from time to time.

Should have read the timeline for day 5 as it might have prepared me for 'kill all things'. My frustration leaked out with a family member then with colleagues at a meeting.  Whoops.

Wishing you all a good one.

Hi Friends! I enjoyed reading your posts and find some comfort knowing that we're all feeling similarly. Kill all things was a rough patch for sure, fortunately I wasn't at work during that phase. I am at the bloated, uncomfortable, is this really working??? phase. I'm glad to have read the timeline because it gives me hope. LOL Is anyone taking anything for bloating/gas production? I'm hoping that if I give it time, it'll get better. I don't think beano is legal.

Today was my first day back at the hospital where I work part time. I'm used to snacking on saltine crackers and the kraft cheese spread and crackers while at work. I had the munchies so bad this afternoon. My coworkers know i'm doing a whole30 and they're supportive. I got home from work and my partner was drinking a beer. I wanted one so bad.... and a cheeseburger.... but I WON"T cheat!!!

I had a non-scale victory around day 4 when a pair of old shorts slid on comfortably.... I'm afraid to try them on now I'm so bloated. I"m sorry, I am totally complaining right now and feeling crabby. I'm glad we're all in this together!!!

Also, I have been reading It All Starts with Food. If you haven't read the book you should! It's fantastic!!

Goodnight!! Everybody keep up the strong work!!! Stay positive!!! :)

Good evening, :)

I hope you all had a great day! I had a much better day today! I do have a questions - during the afternoons that I"m working I find myself getting really tired, and dragging around 3pm. (I work 6am-6:30pm) I'm wondering if I need to power through these spells vs eat some carrots or other veggies. Am I feeding a need for sugar with veggie sugar? Should I eat some almonds instead? What are you all eating for snacks between meals when you find yourself needing some energy?

I do think I need to add more fat to my lunch. That would probably help.

Thanks!! :)

If you're hungry -- like so hungry that you'd be willing to eat something bland like plain fish and steamed broccoli -- then eat a mini meal of protein, fat, and vegetables, or at least two of the three. If you're not hungry, don't eat. If you're just tired, try getting up and walking around a little bit, or at least stand up and stretch. Maybe walk to the water cooler and get some water, or walk outside in the sunshine for a few minutes.

If you want to post a couple of days' worth of meals, including approximate portion sizes based on the meal template, water intake, exercise, and sleep, over in the Troubleshooting section of the forum, we can take a look and see if it looks like you're on the right track. Not adding enough fat is a pretty common thing people do, so if you think you need to add more, you probably do. Keep in mind that the oil you cook something in doesn't necessarily count, as some of it stays in the pan and isn't eaten.

Hi July 7th and 8th!!!!

It's been a while since I've posted because I've been walking around my house in circles, bumping into my husband who is doing the exact same thing as me - searching for food that we shouldn't have!! lol.

As expected, today has been a really tough day! But I'll get through it, as will all of you!! Think of the big picture! I suffer from a condition called hidradenitis suppurative, which has no real treatment so this Whole30 is me giving a normal life a fighting chance. I was frustrated around day 6 when I had HS symptoms, but my parents and husband encouraged me to stick it out - since I wanted to lament about it over a signature Cold Stone Creamery LOVE IT size treat  :D. Since then, the symptoms have subsided so I remain hopeful that something I've been eating for years has been causing my body to react!

My husband caved and had a shot of bourbon. (My fault, I was going to pour it out on Day 1 but it's so dang expensive I couldn't do it!) We had a good laugh though because it was hardly a shot worth - he said, "Oh man....I was praying this was a '2 fish and 5 loaves' scenario and the bourbon would just keep coming!"

If you're freaking out because you just want to quit or cheat and eat/drink a (insert damn near everything here)__________, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! It's going to feel so good to finish this program and move forward living a more healthy lifestyle; stick with it!!

Someone else on these forums suffers from the same condition and found great relief/remission with the Whole30. I believe her trigger is dairy.  ;)

Hey super 7s

kcvq I'm sorry to hear about your slip and hope you an accept and feel some compassion for yourself  I think if my chap had cake while I was craving I might have to hurt him - birthday or not.  I hope you'll jump straight back on and stick with us even though it's a re-start

DanieHW you made me laugh with your husbands' loaves and fishes.  Good for you staying strong.

I totally relate to the bloating.  I don't know if I'm losing any fat off my body at all.  I mistakenly saw my back fat in the mirror while I showered this morning.  I'm not really overweight getting towards it and I hoped by now I'd be slipping into clother a little easier.  Mind you the UK is having a minor heat wave (hotter than Greece and St Tropez) so I'm hoping swelling and water will ease off as things cool down and I'll see some leeway in my jeans.

Hello everyone!!

I hope you're all doing well!! It's Day 17 and though I've stayed strong, I'd be lying if I said I haven't been yearning for sweets and ice cream! Today was especially difficult being at a family dinner. I made whole30 Chicken Chowder for myself and my husband but everything else smelled sooooo amazing. It was also frustrating having family members mock and joke about us being on a "diet" (how else do you explain Whole30 in short w/o saying that dreaded trendy word?!). My husband backed me 100% which was SO AWESOME "honestly, I've enjoyed her cooking the last few weeks more than ordering chinese food. I don't mind the diet!"

Anyone tried any good recipes??!!

KCVZQ - It's tough! But Red Velvet + celebrating hubby's birth = understandable!! I hope you'll restart if you haven't already!

Shannon,

Thank you for your response! I was able to read it the next day and have followed your advice. I have added more fat to my meals, lunch especially, and it has helped immensely. I've been keeping quick compliant protein options around for an afternoon pick me up if needed with some veggies, but so far haven't needed the mini meal. I appreciate the note about counting the oil we cook with also - Thank you!

Britt
