Starting July 10th!

Day 2 is done!  How are you all feeling?  I have been CRAZY thirsty all day and had too much energy.  I walked 20,000 steps without trying. Now it's 8:00 and I am not even tired at all.  THAT is crazy....

Don't think my tummy liked all the cauliflower rice I ate at lunch - just had a few chicken sausages from Trader Joe's for dinner (they are pretty tasty and convenient).

How about you?

Woohoo! that's so cool that you were so energetic! I would never dream of hitting 20K on a normal day!

I freaked out a little bit today when I remembered I had a meeting after working hours at a cafe, and so I knew I was going to be slightly late for dinner. So I had some almonds just in case, even though I wasn't hungry at all! I was scared that I would turn up at the cafe, smell all the treats everyone was having and just go all out. I should have just waited for dinner!

So far so good though :)

SO on coffee..... I cant do coconut milk either. Its gross so I've been using unsweetened cashew milk. It looks compliant. I saw Melissa post something about compliant creamer a while back. I am going to try and find out what that is.

Let us know how the creamer adventure goes! If you recommend it I may give it a shot :D

Hi all of you July 10th starters!

I started my Whole30 on June 23rd. I am on day 20 today and I feel awesome!!!! I wanted to give you all a bit of encouragement because you are on day 3 and that was by far one of my worst days for me! Hang in there. It DOES get SO much better! Take it easy today and don't be too hard on yourself. The headaches for me on the end of day 2, all of day 3 and most of day 4 were probably some of the worst headaches I have ever had! I also felt nauseated and just generally awful. I am a runner and I had planned a long run of 8 miles on my day 3. I only was able to finish 4 miles and the whole time I felt like I was going to puke. I remember telling my husband, "If this is what it will be like for 30 whole days, count me out!!!". Fortunately, the really bad symptoms only lasted part of day three. By the afternoon I felt much better, except for the splitting headache. Drink LOTS of water! I put lemon and lime slices in mine and also some fresh mint leaves. This really helped to ease the discomfort. Reading the book and also other peoples experiences really helped me a lot. I knew what was coming and could plan accordingly. I am SO happy I decided to make this change for my health. Don't give up! It's only 30 days!!! You can do it!!!!

End of day 3.... And day 3 hit!!! Whew. Hungry and tired all day. Thanks for sharing your story kjmurray! I needed it. I "almost" went to a restaurant at the airport because I was just so hungry. But something stopped me... Thank goodness. I ate what I brought instead.

Will work on meal plan - so far, I just made a handful of things and picked what attracted me at meal time.  Also, when I get busy at work, I do not eat.  Then I get home from work and BAM - I eat a lot.  I've not done that since starting whole 30, but I have skipped a few lunches.

Meal plans definitely needed.

DesertSun - congrats on skipping the airport restaurant.  Traveling makes me want comfort/old habits food - GOOD FOR YOU!  Next time I'm tempted, I'll think of you.

Here's to DAY 4!  Completed boot camp this morning, ate ground turkey with apples, off to work.

Just finishing off day 4 here in AUS.. Day 1 and 2 were a breeze apart from some headache-ness. Day 3 I was so tired it was insane.'' Today was horrible... so tired and emotional. Really wanna go eat the entire jar of compliant nut butter in the cupboard. The puppy sleeping on me is helping (I don't want to disturb her).

Hello, all! I'm Michele, and I started on Sunday, July 10th also.

I'm not eating as many vegetables as I should, and when I do eat them, I'm choosing sweet potato and tomato.  Any recommendations?

Welcome Michelle! My vegetables of choice are: mushrooms (so much variety!), zucchini, eggplant, carrot and spinach. Aside from spinach, I love these because they are so easy to roast (I like to toss with olive oil and some crushed or minced garlic and paprika) to have something warm and satisfying.

Kirby - RIGHT????!!!???  Step away from the nut butter:)

Michele - the same thing happens to me.  I actually have to make lunch my biggest meal and then I am fine later.  I add fruit to that meal, too.:)

Day 4 dawns and I feel better than I did on Day 3 (so far).  Stopped at starbucks and got a tall black dark roast (a first for me).  I am enjoying the black coffee.  I usually drink straight espresso in Europe so I'm not sure why I think it is a big deal here.  I realized it is just a conduit for vanilla soy milk and the sugar and foam.  Interesting....

Made organic ground beef with spinach topped with 1/2 an avocado (drizzled with balsamic and sea salt) for breakfast cause MAN did I starve yesterday.  My stomach is flatter again - I had some ugly inflammation going on!

If anyone can't eat eggs - maybe this breakfast will help (or if you are tired of eggs).  I made a huge batch and just reheat and top with avocado.

Happy Wednesday everyone!  How's everyone doing?

Oh sorry to hear that! I'm also finishing up day 4 right now and I'm extremely tired! I'm fairly sure half of that at least is due to the fact that I only had 5 hours of sleep last night. But normally I would be wide awake by midday either way, this time I'm just dragging.

Is that the same puppy that's in your photo? She is the most adorable food-controller ever!

I hope you get loads of sleep and feel more well rested.

Hi DS! Day 4 is coming to a close, and I'm fairly tired! I really like your breakfast idea, I'm going to try making that one weekend morning! Although I must say I do love eggs, and never really get bored of having even scrambled eggs every day! Still, variety is always good :)

Fatima - WAY TO get through day 4!  I'm feeling much better so far on day 4.  I am not hungry again today and have good energy (so far...lol).  Going to make myself each lunch though - don't want to lose energy (and then want sugar).    But nothing sounds good.  Well - nothing approved:).  Anyone else not hungry today?

I really enjoy this thread.  Everyone here is so nice and supportive.  Let's keep it going!

Kirby - tell us how your day goes!

Thanks for the encouragement all! I think I'm just so used to eating after a stressful day, or having a drink.. so not being able to do that is hard!

DesertSun - I've had a few meals I wasn't really hungry for (especially breakfast as I used to just skip it).. if I can delay it a bit I have, but otherwise just eat anyway... I've seen that recommended on here, because it helps regulate your system/hormones etc.

Was considering taking myself to lunch tomorrow, but not sure finding somewhere will be that simple.

DesertSun - today was really weird! I had one bite of my breakfast and immediately had to go be sick! I checked out the forum and found some threads talking about how it could be because of hunger. Which makes sense, as I didn't have a very big dinner yesterday, and was actually a tiny bit hungry when I fell asleep, so I suppose I must have been famished when I woke up, but I was probably not awake enough to realise that!

Anyway, at least I got through the day, although I did have a slight headache for most of it. I'm hoping this is going to be the roughest bit...!

Kirby - I've had a bit of a difficult time finding restaurants with any compliant foods over here. I've been checking out menus of different places to try and make a list of all the places that serve whole30 compliant dishes, and so far have only come up with one: poached eggs with sauteed vegetables at one cafe (they normally do it with butter but use olive oil if asked). So I need to make sure that all my socialising this month happens at that cafe lol!

Yay to day 5! I had the worst headache today and have felt nauseated since working out. I am making a fajita chicken salad for lunch and zucchini noodle shrimp pesto with avocado cream sauce for dinner. As for breakfast, a hash, homemade breakfast sausage, sweet potatoes, and red pepper hash with over-easy egg on top. I am an avid cook so playing with all these recipes is quite fun. Of course, finding time between baby and work is a challenge. Trying not to snack between meals, if I do, I have an ounce of nuts and a piece of fruit or vegetable such as carrots or cooked beets. Feeling really good about our progress!!

Anyone else notice a change in their skins appearance/completion?

I had a work event tonight so had a pepper crusted burger with mushrooms and onions and a chopped salad. Was very tasty. The Yardhouse was a good choice!

Only slept 3 hours last night... No idea why.

My skin does look different... That is interesting!!!

Anyone else have something they notice other than being tired?? (Me, too!)

Hey guys!

I also woke up tired and slightly nauseated today, even though I had slept for 9 hours! I could have easily stayed in bed all day. The nausea is gone thank goodness. Still sleepy though!

I've noticed a slight improvement in my complexion. I hope the improvement extends to my hair, too!

I wore a pair of trousers which used to be quite tight on me. Today, they were still tight-fitting but the way they are supposed to be, not cutting off circulation in my stomach  :P

Wilk1028, your food sounds amazing!! I had somehow completely forgotten about the existence of seafood, and you just reminded me that I can have all kinds of alternatives to chicken and eggs! Going to be incorporating that into next week's meal plan ;)

Errrrm, do you guys think it would be so bad if I just went to bed instead of having dinner? I am SO sleepy, I only had lunch three hours ago (5 pm) and I'm nowhere near hungry enough for another meal... I also realise the ridiculousness of wanting to sleep at 8pm, but it's all I can think about!

Fatima - Hopefully, you are fast asleep.  I went to bed at 8:30pm last night.  I say, "Go for it!"

Desert Sun - that burger sounds amazing!

I'm ending Day 6.  Ate lunch and dinner at restaurants today for work.  Selected chicken breast on salad with apples, cucumbers and tomatoes while everyone ate bbq and corn muffins with butter.  No problem.

For dinner everyone ate salads and I had salmon on lettuce with some diced tomatoes.  I was not even tempted to eat the bread!  I hope I can keep this up.

6am bootcamp kicked my butt this morning, but I finished.  My arms were shaking during the last two rounds of mountain climbers.

I feel tired, but not extremely.  As long as I am busy doing something, I'm ok.  If I sat still I would fall asleep immediately.

Tempted to step on the scale.  I am not normally a scale addict.  I think I want to do it because it is forbidden.

Food is tasting better or I am tasting it better - it is hard to explain.

Day 6 conquered!

Newbie,

How is Day 6 for you?  Are you feeling better?

Ive noticed the gastrointestinal 'distress' they note, ha ha. Did the farmers market this morning now trying to do some meal planning for the coming week.

Excited because I found a ghee crockpot recipe, so I'm going to make that when my jar runs out (organic ghee is so expensive here).
