Michelle, I ended up just having half of a template meal's worth of egg salad (not enough veg in there though!). Congrats on a successful day 6! I am not including much exercise just yet, but you've just encouraged me to try a class this week! I actually miss that shaky feeling of a really strong workout. I'm going to go for pilates. I really don't like it much because I feel like it's a more difficult version of yoga haha! But I'll give it a shot.

By the way all, I am in love with the egg salad recipe from ourpaleolife.com - it's a really simple base salad, consisting only of eggs, mayo, mustard and spring onions. But today I had it for lunch and I added rocca (I think that's the same as rocket leaves/arugula), some walnuts, olives and a dash of vinegar to make it a complete meal and it was great! It's the lightest whole30 meal I've prepared so far, and I think I'm going to be making a lot of these for my work lunches.

Today I wasn't super exhausted, hope that means I'm over that phase! Feeling super wide awake and energetic until right now! And also I'm in a good mood because two people told me I look much better and asked me what I've been doing! I guess it's starting to show :)

Also, sweet potatoes are the best thing ever.

Day 7 2pm check in.

Fatima - congratulations!  The egg salad sounds wonderful.  My husband made the whole30 mayo for me last Sunday and I've been having chicken and egg salad also.  I just made a large batch of chicken salad with the whole 30 mayo, lots of onions, celery apple, and freshly ground pepper.  I love it!

Woke up without an alarm today at 645am and felt great.  We bicycled to the farmers market and my 13 year old son and his friend joined us because they are catching pokemon.  We spent several hours downtown (which for us includes the Colonial Williamsburg living history museum).  It was very humid but I still felt great even after biking the 1 mile there and back and walking 3 miles while down there.  Before Whole30, I would have been fine doing all that activity, but I would have taken a nap when we returned home.  My husband and I popped in the Charlton Coffee house (part of Colonial Williamsburg ticketed activities on Duke of Gloucester St) and took the tour.  They serve sipping chocolate (my husband loves it - it's not very sweet), coffee or tea, so I was able to drink tea while we learned about 1766 gossip (a murder, etc).  Thank you, Whole30, for letting us have caffeine!

Off to do some work in the garden.  I'll check in after dinner.  Meanwhile, we are going to my in-law's mountain house for the week, so I am trying to think ahead about staying whole30.  I'd love any advice - everyone else will be drinking and having extravagant meals.

Yaay I experienced a really cool thing today. My sinuses are getting better! I knew I had a sinus problem when I went to see a specialist in Munich about my headaches and migraines, and I used to treat it with all kinds of nasal drops and all that jazz. But today, I was sitting at my desk at work and just took deep breath and I felt my sinus clear up with an inaudible pop! They're not completely clear yet, but I can already feel like I'm breathing better. Plus my energy levels are through the roof right now even though I only got 5 hours of sleep last night (which a few days ago made me feel like death). I wonder if this is the famed tiger blood?

I really hope you guys are feeling this right now or feel it soon!

Michele, your region sounds so wonderful - it sounds like such a fun place you live in. I would love to be able to spend time outdoors in nice surroundings as well, but the weather here is just so forbidding (40-50 celsius :( ) and even when the weather is cooler, the city isn't pedestrian/bike friendly at all! I heard about some trekking groups that go out into the mountains - we have some beautiful mountain ranges here - so I'm going to start looking into them when the weather cools down a slight bit.

Fatima - congrats on the energy!  I had it yesterday.

Today I could take a nap.  I had to force myself to eat breakfast even though I was hungry when I went to bed last night.  Still having vivid dreams but not about food.  I craved sugar for the first time this morning and had difficulty sleeping.  I have not had a difficult day yet, so I think this must be one of them.

40 celsius is usually our top temp.  I can not imagine your weather.  Yesterday was only 92 fahrenheit here, but the humidity was 100% - Everyone was shining with perspiration.

Michele - I hope you get your energy back ASAP. The tiredness and difficulty sleeping is annoying I know.

I hope you never experience 50+ heat! But actually the humidity is the worst part of it, it's a nightmare for my skin and hair and just generally so uncomfortable!

I hope your day is smoother tomorrow :)

Day 10 complete.  I've been out of town since SUnday, but I'm still w30.

I ate some dried banana chips at the spa.  After I ate a couple, I realized that they may have sugar added, so I stopped.  Otherwise - all is well.

Fatima - have fun at the spa!

Fatima,

Day 13!  You should be nearing the end of the day.  It's 1030am here.

Yesterday, I was very tired and felt bloated.  I overslept this morning and missed boot camp.  I hope I snap out of this.

A work meeting lunch today will be interesting because it is at a super small cafe downtown where they make bread.  Your comments about the bread at the Turkish restaurant will inspire me!

Michele, I can't believe tomorrow we will be two weeks into this! Very exciting!

I hope you stay strong at your work lunch! One thing I wish I had remembered at the Turkish restaurant was that a craving only lasts about 3-5 minutes, so if I had tried to distract myself for that amount of time I maybe wouldn't have had to agonise so much about the bread!

Today I went to join some friends for dinner and they were passing around birthday cake as it was a friend's birthday, and I quickly said no before I had the chance to even think about tempting myself. I'm convinced now that it must get a tiny bit easier this time!!

Hey all, just wanted to see how everyone's been doing lately!

I also wanted to recommend a great breakfast recipe - the sausage and sweet potato casserole from this great blog Plaid and Paleo: http://www.plaidandpaleo.com/2013/11/paleo-sausage-and-sweet-potato.html

Someone here recommended making breakfast muffins early on in this thread so I thought I would use that genius concept and this casserole into a bunch of breakfast sausage muffins, and it turned out great!

Hope everyone's day 17 is going well!  B)

Fatima,

I'm so proud of us for sticking to this!  I've had many working lunches/dinners at restaurants this week, but have still stayed with the program.

I'm anxious to get on the scale - even though I am not normally a scale person - I think it is because it is forbidden....

It really is exciting isn't it Michele! I have always had a problem with being too attached to my scale, and it's not getting any better! Congrats for making it through the working lunch/dinner minefield - I think I would struggle with that a lot!

Day 22!  I have a cold/sinus infection that has knocked me for a loop.  It started Friday, and does not seem to be getting worse.  I've stayed on W30 except for 3 sugarless cough drops.

Fatima, your days sounds very full and exciting!  I'm considering an extension to 45 days also.

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon michele, that sounds very unpleasant :(

I'm glad you're feeling like extending too, though! I feel like I've still got more improvements to make before reintroduction. I'd really love to add regular exercise into my W30 to see how it goes then.

I am feeling a little better. I'm drinking lots of broth and trying not to feel guilty about the sugarless cough drops.  (I have 2-3 each night.  Hopefully I can do without them tonight.)

W45 here we come.  I've maintained my bootcamp exercise three days a week until I got this cold.  My workouts have not been great.  My trainer says the same as the W30 book- that is to be expected because my body is getting energy differently now.

Are we the only 2 left?

I'm here! Just been dealing with a bunch of stuff... got a horrible cold right now but still managing to stay compliant. Cooking up some chicken soup today. Dr gave me a few days off to rest so I'm glad about that.

Am also interested in extending, would like to add regular exercise to the mix plus help a lil more with some chronic issues.

Am already considering foods I might not want to reintroduce if it helps me keep feeling better.

What are you guys missing the most? I have a serious sweet tooth and am having trouble enjoying tea without sweetener. Would love a comforting cup of tea.

Hi Kirby, glad to hear that you're still powering on!

Can you all believe we are so close to the finish line? I feel like I must be crazy for wanting to extend this - I've never been good at finishing any challenge I've voluntarily taken on, let alone keep going with it beyond the set period. But this is working so well for me.

I really thought I would miss chocolate/sweet things the most, but I find myself still having the odd fantasy about having pizza. Pizza, at one point, was life.

Michelle, I most certainly am! I'm going to keep going for another 15 days, but in reality I'm aiming for another 30 days, I just don't want to make it seem too daunting... I still haven't added exercise to my routine properly, but with a new cycle, I feel more motivated to start afresh. Going to see my gym about signing up with a trainer today!
