Day 5 and feeling baaad

Recommended Posts

So, yesterday I felt absolutely great - clear headed - wide awake - was up at 7.30 and not needing a nap before bedtime which is unheard of.  Today, however, I feel sleepy and foggy-brained and disappointed - can anyone explain this for me please?  Breakfast was bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and spinach at 8.30 - by 11 I was ravenously hungry so have had two hard boiled eggs with a heaped teaspoon of mayo.

Could be carb flu. Could be that you're dehydrated (brain fog is also a symptom of dehydration). Could be that you're not eating enough.

Can you list out a couple of days worth of meals, including portion sizes, and how much water you've been drinking? That'll help nail down some possibilities :)

Yesterday: B 3 rashers streaky bacon, 2 eggs, 6 mushrooms, ghee.   L minced turkey (palm sized portion), onion, mushroom, green pepper, lettuce, spinach, (enough to fill an individual pasta bowl) pickles, mayo, tomato puree, (2tbsp mayo - 1 tsp puree)  D stir fried butternut squash, courgette, (zucchini) carrot, mushrooms, sugarsnap peas, palm-full of olives, same amount of mince - then about 10 strawberries.

and oh good grief I can't remember what I ate on Weds!!! LOL

two egg omelette with banana and strawberries for B, L was Mackerel fillets (two) with new potatoes and mixed vegetables, D cold roast chicken (palm size) some prociutto ham, (two slices) and a mixed salad and a handful of olives (salad covered most of the plate) There was some fruit and nuts during the day - an apple in the salad and a satsuma as a snack.

Most likely dehydration as I forget to drink!

If you are eating salad as your meal it needs to be huge.  One plate full isn't sufficient. Think what happens once it is wilted/chewed down.  Many of us around here eat our salads out of mixing bowls and we add extra cooked/sturdy veggies as well.

You can increase your protein as the template is a range; 1-2 palms.  Your breakfast in the second day you reported doesn't contain veggies or fat, only fruit and eggs.  In fact your whole second reported day is low on fat, make sure you are always adding some to each meal. Fruit should not be eaten on its own as a "snack" and should not push veggies off your plate.  Fruit alone will spike your blood sugar leading to a crash soon after.  If you need to eat between meals because your previous meal wasn't large enough or because you have more than 4-5 hours between, have a protein & fat or protein and veggie mini meal.

And drink up the water, for sure!

Thank you - that is really helpful.  Having been overweight most of my life I find it really hard to consume fat :)  I cook with ghee and the meals taste 'fatty' so I feel that I should not add extra. I really cannot afford (financially) to eat salads that large!  However, I will do my best to add more veggies and reduce fruit.
