The Whole30 forum is not the correct place to ask about whether something a restaurant serves is compliant. The restaurant is expert on their food. What you hear from anyone else is second-hand information. You cannot trust second-hand information. You need to develop the habit of asking the experts... the people selling you the food.

I think people come here with their questions in the hopes that moderators and experienced W30/60/90 folks can help them navigate through this program.   Especially with the myriad of names that preservatives can be called and dizzying array of grains that are on the market.

Reading rules isn't always enough and sometimes its helpful to bounce information off other people to truly understand the topic.  As someone with cognitive function deficits as a result of chemo, I have found myself not always understanding the information in front of my face.  Yet, when discussing it with others, I'm able to put the pieces together, so to speak.

We completely get that, firestorm. In the case of the OP on this thread, they posted a one line request with no foundational information to support it or show that they had made an effort to glean the info themselves.  Maybe assuming that the volunteer moderators on the forum would do the legwork for them? The member who answered was kind enough to paste in all the information and then explain it which is great, we love that.  But in reality, the recipe at the store level may be different or they might use a different kind of dressing or their supplier might change between last week and this week. Tom's suggestion was that people ask at the actual place where they will eat the actual food, every time.

That all said, we do expect people to take responsibility for their own empowerment and education and where there are places that they need assistance after they have tried on their own, they can come to us.   In this specific case, if the OP had googled, they would have seen the actual word "soy" appear in no less than a dozen places and as their question was specifically about soy...........Cognitive function aside, we do expect people to know how to read. ;)

Please don't forget that the moderators here are all volunteers with actual jobs and that we pop in as we can and in our spare time. I personally think our time is best spent helping people get the most out of their Whole30 with troubleshooting/tweaking than with googling readily available information. :)

One thing I truly appreciate about your posting style ladyshanny, is your ability to provide information in a way that is helpful without sounding condescending.  :)

This is also something I really love about ladyshanny's posts. I don't read them and instantly feel defensive (which is not a good feeling when you're going through a plan like this).
