Interesting observation about fruit

Recommended Posts

I am on day 6. The first five days I have had quite a bit of fruit (mainly because it needed using up as I had bought it not realising it was quite restricted) and I have been hungry between meals.  Today, by accident rather than design, I have not had any fruit and this is the first day that I have eaten only my three meals.  I went out to a first aid course this afternoon and had meant to take something with me as I thought I would be hungry - it is only now that I realise I did not feel hungry at all  :D  This is also the first day that I have been able to distinguish between thirst and hunger  :D  I must be more sensitive to sugar than I thought!

Only posting this as it might help others :)

Completely agreed.  On my first W30 I had at least one or two pieces of fruit a day and as a result never really dealt with my sugar issues.  Day 14 of my second and this go around I've probably had two pieces of fruit over the past two weeks and no cravings.  I'm going to steer clear of fruit until I've cured myself of sugar addiction......  Thanks Dawnski

I also noticed this. Around the 4th of July I ate fruit salad everyday to "use it up." I kept having gnawing hunger all day long. I stumbled across someone else's post concerning hunger and eating fruit in the morning. After that experience, it's easy to not eat it. I do not like that feeling! I find I can eat it occasionally, or a small amount after a meal later in the day. But I avoid it like death in the morning!

Interesting. Glad someone brought this up. For almost a week I had almost no cravings for my old junk foods then today it hit me hard. I knew i hadn't cheated and the the only thing i could think of was that yesterday I found some fresh figs at a farmers' market and later had 2 slices of watermelon , besides a whole apple at breakfast. I can't even remember what fruit I'd had earlier in the week but pretty sure it was always WITH a meal.

I am finding out interesting things about fruit as well. If I have it with my last meal of the day I am definitely more tired in the morning, very hard to wake up! I knew sugar did this but had no idea fruit would be just as bad. Trying to limit my fruit to morning and noon meals.

I felt this way as well! Fruit is a gateway drug! Ha, just an exaggeration, but seriously, it can drag out the process of weaning yourself off sugar.

It definitely is for me and I find cutting back key to success this go around.   I would like to make friends with fruit in the future and think I can if I can retrain my taste buds and develop better habits.   I think citrus fruit too is less of s trigger than things like cherries, pineapple or pears.......

The biggest keys for me have been making it a rarity and approaching it the right way - not as a replacement for veggies, but always with a meal.
