giggle123
Hi, I'm currently on R1 D 11 and feeling great. I haven't had many timeline "symptoms" and I am so glad I made the decision to do the Whole30. While I'm 1/3 of the way through I am a little curious about the reintroduction phase. My husband and I leave on July 12th for a 8 day cruise, which only leaves me roughly 5 days for reintroduction. When I learned about Whole 30 and wanted to give it a try, I didn't spend a lot of time reading about this phase and now realizing how important it is in the process. My question is- do I do the full W30 and reintroduce a couple of things (e.g. gluten, dairy) in those few days before the cruise and then during vacation stay as close to W30 as possible or cut my W30 to a W25, giving myself the full 10 days for reintroduction? My plan is to pick back up to either another W30 after returning from the cruise or a paleo diet. Please don't suggest I end my W30 now and pick up after vacation, as that is not an option for me- given how far I've come and how healthy I feel. Thanks in advance for your advice! Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted July 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 18, 2016 I assume you mean you leave on August 12? I would complete your whole30 and then reintroduce those things that you feel you either may have a problem with or those things that will be very difficult to avoid. I would do the dairy and gluten... the good thing about a cruise is that they are all about accommodating you so you can definitely manage pretty well... giggle123
Yes, we leave on AUGUST 12th So you think having 5 days +/- to reintroduce at least dairy and gluten (and a glass of wine or two) will suffice? I really don't want to cut back to a W25 or W27 but will if you think I would see any benefit. Thanks
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted July 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 18, 2016 I think that either way, you're going to get less than ideal results than if you didn't have this situation... either you do shorter and your gut may not have fully healed, or you do the full 30 days and then have to somewhat rush the introductions. If it was me, I would go the full 30 days, intro dairy and grains (gluten for sure and then try for rice and non gluten grains if you have time) and then I'd do the wine intro on the boat... try and get a good clean meal and have a glass of wine with it and see how it goes. Don't be afraid to ask questions on the ship and advocate for your food needs... Also, please send me my ticket so I can come with you!
