Anyone from Suffolk, England?

There are a number of UK posters on the forums although having been on hols for the past two weeks I've not seen who has been active lately...

There was a group thread not that long ago if you have a look through the older threads on the 'Join the Whole30' forum - IIRC the OP was called Sharon  :)

Not from Suffolk but from Berkshire and on Day 1 (along with my Husband - albeit reluctantly!)  Hope your Whole30 is going well?  I was wondering if anyone in the UK was following the programme so it is good to know I am not alone! :-)

Nope - not alone :) and yes it is going very well thank you - I am loving it :) I believe I have lost weight although not weighed so no idea how much (but am obese to begin with so weight loss more likely for me) but the best thing is just feeling better :) skin looking great, nails seem stronger already and they seem to grow quicker too :) More restful sleep and a bit more energy in the daytimes.  The prep got me down a bit to begin with - always seemed to be in the kitchen - but as I have found more of a routine, and learned to batch cook, it is not so bad :) The forums are great - always someone to answer a question or offer a helping hand.  I was going to wish you good luch - but luck has nothing to do with it.  Dedication; 100% dedication - I wish you that :)

Thank you.  I wish you dedication for your remaining 16 days also!  Sounds like you're doing brilliantly well and still very motivated.  A couple of things I still haven't researched yet are how to find compliant bacon and sausage meat in the UK and I need to investigate sauces, as all the instant gravy/stock options are now out of the window!  So, any tips would be great.  :D

I make my own sausage meat from minced meat :) There are some lovely recipes in the Whole30 book.  I found that Tesco's do a double pack of bacon that is compliant as it has no added sugar and no sulphites - I cannot afford to eat the highest quality meats and fish but do find things that are compliant even if not grass-fed and organic :)  Lots of recipes for sauces and the like in the book too - the book is worth its money ;) I don't do gravy any more - but will have spiced apple sauce with pork, or tomato and pepper relish (with everything!!) I make my mayo (so simple to do) and then can make tartare for my fish by adding chopped gherkins and capers.  Look at the Polish foods in supermarkets for pickles in brine with no sugar added - the British ones tend to all have sugar in them.  If you like eggs, hard boiled ones kept in the fridge make great snacks if you need something in a hurry - or can be thrown in a salad when there is nothing else to hand :)

Yeah, compliant sausages as we know them in the UK are like unicorns - extremely hard to find. There a number of UK threads that have purported to find some but on closer inspection they've contained pea flakes or some other off plan ingredient.

Most supermarkets will do a compliant frankfurter type sausage if you're into that sort of thing, but personally I wouldn't thank you for them.

We're lucky to have compliant bacon in most major supermarkets, as well as in any local butcher - just make sure you're not getting maple cured.

Bone broth is a good basis for soups & sauces. Make friends with your butcher & he'll provide you with bones free of charge, or buy some cuts of shin, or slow cook a chicken & use the bones from those...

I'm pretty sure Sainsbury's do a compliant broth too but you'd have to have a search to check for any off plan ingredients as it's not something I usually buy....
